Best goal celebrations after England score just five minutes into semi-final

There were scenes of complete joy across the country following Kieran Trippier’s fifth-minute opening goal against Croatia in the World Cup semi-final.

Millions were gathered in pubs and fanzones across the country to watch the clash – the Three Lions’ most important match for 28 years.

Fans were seen topless and hurling beer into the air to show their delight.

Fans jumped up and screamed as the ball hit the net, before hugging one another.

Overcome by the emotion of the moment, some men took their tops off and started swinging them around above their heads.

Deborah Lowe, 57, of Walthamstow, east London, said after the first goal: "That was unexpected and exciting.

"I’m not usually a football fan, but the way this team has been playing has made me get behind them and I’m now hooked."

The crowd in Hyde Park went berserk as England scored within five minutes.

Those watching on the huge screen were drenched in beer as plastic cups flew through the air amid wild celebrations.

Some fans had tears in their eyes as they couldn’t believe the dream start.

Alan, from Fleet, who has been to Brazil, Germany and France to follow the team, said: "It’s amazing."

Another fan watching the match in Hyde Park, who gave his name as Robbie, said: "It’s unbelievable.

"It’s the biggest dream of a start you could have imagined.

"But it makes it even more unbearable for the rest of the game.

"It’s going to be a nervous 80 minutes."
