Blundering Boris Johnson staged his key Brexit speech in the same building as the headquarters of the pro-EU Lib Dems.
The bungling Foreign Secretary emerged from the Policy Exchange think tank to chants of “Exit from Brexit ” from more than a dozen protesters at the party’s London base.
The EU-flag waving demonstrators perched on a third floor balcony, three storeys below where the Cabinet Minister was delivering his bombastic 32-minute address.
They also held Lib Dem placards during their noisy appearance.
The party is committed to offering voters a way out of Brexit through another referendum.
But it has alienated some activists who believe it should respect the 52% to 48% outcome of the June 2016 poll – the biggest democratic exercise the country has ever seen.
A Lib Dem spokeswoman said: “Boris clearly feels threatened enough politically by the Liberal Democrats that he’s felt the need the park his tanks on our lawn.
"We thought we’d use the opportunity to remind the country that only the liberal Democrats are offering an exit from Brexit.”
