The dad, who has not been named but has been described as a 45-year-old widower, was reportedly two-and-a-half times the UK drink-drive limit when police showed up at the resort.
It’s not the first time he has been seen “drunk” while on holiday and with his children in his care, according to local reports.
The youngsters were removed from him on Wednesday night and taken to hospital for a check-up, which showed they were OK.
They were taken to a temporary children’s home – the Refugio Aboim Ascensao – in Faro at around 1am yesterday.
Their dad’s whereabouts today were unclear and it’s not know if he was formally arrested after the police were called to the hotel.
