‘Clearly, it wasn’t incense’: Cops bust illegal pot shop disguised as church

California police have arrested a man accused of selling weed at an illegal marijuana dispensary disguised as a church, according to reports.

The West Coast kush cathedral was discovered by a passerby “who reported a heavy smell of marijuana and saw several people leaving the location with white bags,” the Laguna Beach Police Department said on social media.

As Laguna Beach’s Municipal Code does not allow marijuana dispensaries to operate in the city, police were dispatched to the scene.

Lucas Dichiara, 31, told police before his arrest that he was volunteering at the “Divine Church of Gardens” and selling marijuana as sacraments, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Cops discovered the so-called “church” was listed on a marijuana dispensary mapping service, and seized $3,000 from the register and more than 20 pounds of pot and drug paraphernalia.

“After a several-hour investigation, Dichiara was taken into custody for possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sales, selling and furnishing marijuana, and violation of the Laguna Beach Municipal Code section of operating a marijuana dispensary in Laguna Beach,” Sgt. Jim Cota said.

“Though the volunteers claimed the dispensary was a church, clearly, it wasn’t incense that was burning,” the police department said. “Thanks to the initial caller’s observations and a thorough investigation, LBPD put the dispensary up in smoke.”
