Cops with machine guns hunting ’horny’ heifer terrorising drivers in Essex

A HORNED cow has rammed two cars in Towie’s Essex heartland of Billericay.

Cops with machine guns are hunting the escaped beast, originally thought to be a bull.

Police are hunting the cow which has rammed two cars

The 110st heifer has been loose since June, when it fled its farm feeding pen.

But no safety warning was known to have been issued.

Then this Tuesday the cow smashed into a motor.

Police rushed to the scene but were unable to find the creature.

Later that day cops again dashed to a rural lane after the cow collided with a second car.

But last night the beast was still on the loose.

Armed police have been trying to keep the public safe from the rampaging cow

Local James Bathgate, 24, said: “I was coming home after seeing my mates when I found a police car blocking the road.

“Armed response officers were walking about with kevlar vests and machine guns. I asked what was going on, but they wouldn’t say.”

The cow was one of two which fled their farm.

Cops shot the other dead after it became aggressive.

The animals’ owner warned residents not to approach the escaped cow.

He said: “Those two were ready to go to market and full of testosterone.

"They’re different to a docile cow on a piece of grass.”

An Essex Police spokesman said: “At around 9.30pm on Tuesday police received reports that an animal had been seen.

“A car collided with it shortly afterwards. It was then reported to have been seen by additional witnesses and a search was conducted. It was not located.”
