A Michigan couple was busted for allegedly holding a special-needs woman captive in a shed and pimping her out for sex, according to authorities.

Michael Welch and Misty George are charged with selling the victim for sexual services in exchange for cash through online advertisements, Fox 2 reported.

The 29-year-old victim was initially allowed to stay in the couple’s home at a trailer park in Macomb Township, a suburb of Detroit, but was kicked out when she couldn’t pay rent.

She was housed in an empty shed located near the home and barred from using the shower or bathroom in the home.

Welch, 38, and George, 30, were nabbed following an anonymous tip to police. The victim fled the mobile home park and told her family members about what happened. They contacted authorities Sept. 12.
“Instead of helping this profoundly special-needs person, George and Welch took her support money, forced her to live rough in an outside shed, and sold her as a prostitute,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith. “As your heart breaks for this vulnerable woman, your conscience is shocked by the abusive cruelty one human being is capable of showing to another.”

It’s unclear how the victim knew the couple or how long she was kept in the shed.

But Macomb County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Renee Yax told the Detroit Free Press that “this whole incident spanned over a couple-month period” including the time she was staying in the home.

Welch and George, who are dating, were arraigned Tuesday on charges of human trafficking and accepting prostitution earnings.

Welch was held on $50,000 bond and George, who was also charged with using a computer to commit a crime, was held on $75,000 bond.
