A drunk reveller had a lucky escape after falling asleep while trying to cook a baguette – leaving the oven on for 10 hours.
The hungry Dublin homeowner had come back after a boozy evening out with friends and tried to cook a late night snack .
The Dubliner turned on the oven and put a stick of bread in to cook before popping a bottle of white wine in the freezer to cool.
But instead of taking the bread out, the hungry reveller promptly fell asleep at around 10pm, Dublin Live reported.
And the unfortunate individual only discovered the food was still being cooked when they woke up to a hangover and smell of burning at 8am.
Dublin Fire Brigade revealed the homeowner had a lucky escape and said it served as a warning about the dangers of drunk cooking.
The emergency service’s Twitter account posted a picture of the blackened bread and a bottle of wine that was frozen solid.
The brigade tweeted today: "A lucky escape last night: Burnt baguette and a frozen bottle of wine (it didn’t crack the bottle).
"The baguette was left cooking from 10pm until 8am this morning, by self-confessed #drunkcooking, with added tiredness.
"Don’t cook if under the influence. We are very concerned about the cooking, but relieved the wine was pre-chilled for tonight."
