A DEPRAVED man beat his mother to death with his guitar and then paced around his garden screaming "I killed my mum".
Garret Selters from Burlington, Vermont, reportedly lost control, hitting Linda Selters so hard the guitar body split open.
Cops found Linda Selters face-down on the second-floor landing, bleeding profusely from an injury to the back of her head.
According to the local paper, The Hawk Eye Linda died late on Tuesday night at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
She passed away after docs decided to remove her from a respirator.
Forensics had found her hair inside the instrument the young man used to beat her.
First-degree murder charges have now been filed against the 29-year-old son and he has now been accused of killing his 56-year-old mother.
Selters has already appeared in court, and the paper said he looked somewhat disoriented during a 15-minute hearing Wednesday morning before District Associate Judge Emily Dean.
He didn't even flinch in court when he discovered for the first time that his mother had died from her injuries when the prosecutor asked for assault charges to be upgraded to murder.
The son told detectives: "I kept hearing girls screaming at me and I heard chainsaw. Everybody kept saying there was nobody around me saying that … I just snapped finally.”
Before she was attacked, the mother called police to report her son was having an "episode" and appeared violent towards her.
Court documents said: "Linda stated Garret was being aggressive towards her, not listening to her and was having an ‘episode'. She further explained that Garret suffers from schizophrenia and she needed officers’ help dealing with him.”
