Laura Lynn Cross, 36, is accused of grooming the boy from when he was just 14 with invitations to play in her swimming pool.
Laura Lynn Cross, 36, is accused of grooming and having sex with a 14-year-old boy
English teacher Cross partially adopted the boy after telling his mum she could mentor him, it is claimed
The boy’s father, who is not named to protect the identity of the child, claims that school authorities missed multiple signs.
“They were having sex”, he told his local news station in Ohio, USA.
Cross, who was an English teacher at Bucthel High School in the town of Akron, is alleged to have had a three year affair with the boy between August 2013 and September 2016.
But the victim’s father claims that he warned staff at the school and informed Tallmadge Police as early as 2012.
News 5 Cleveland, who spoke to the dad, reported that charges were filed but Cross did resign in January 2015.
“First of all, she’s a schoolteacher”, he said of the mother-of-two. “To get aroused by a child basically you have to be a sick individual.”

He also accuses the former teacher of convincing the boy’s mum — who had custody — to let him move in with her through a court-approved “partial parental custody” arrangement.
She told his mum that she wanted to “mentor him”, the dad claimed.
“I was told by the school that she had a ‘hold’ on him and he was not cooperating so basically they can’t do nothing with it.”
He added: “She is a 30-year-old woman with a 14 and 15 year old boy. She is getting sexually aroused off him.”
And the dad said he only found out when he got an anonymous phonecall telling him that he was a grandfather — and the teen admitted he’d had a baby.
News 5 said sexual battery charges were filed only last week after police learned that Cross and the teen had a child together in 2015 which was kept secret until the tipster’s call.
An Akron School System spokesman said the district was unaware of the case until now.
They have since launched an “internal investigation going back to 2012 to determine what exactly happened and when it happened”.
“It was a straight failure from the system”, the dad said. “From the school and definitely from the police.”
Cross is currently being held in the Summit County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
