Haunting final post from new mom found dead in home

A young woman from the United Kingdom who was found dead in her home had told friends: “I don’t want a perfect life, I want a happy life” just four days before her death.

Jessica King has been remembered as a “beautiful” mother – with two men since arrested on suspicion of the 23-year-old’s murder.

The young mom had hinted at turmoil in her life, venting to friends about how people could use social media to create the perception of a happy life.

She wrote: “How putting pictures and status on here can hide a lot!!

“All happy my a–! Can’t stand those people that make out their all perfect! Every relationship has it bad times!!”

Jessica, who had given birth to her youngest daughter five months ago, also blasted people who only listened to “one side of a story”.

She had also written of her wish to have a happy life just days before her murder, telling friends on social media: “I don’t want a perfect life, I want a happy life.”

Two men, ages 26 and 27, have since been arrested on suspicion of murder in Leeds in connection with Jessica’s death.

Rita Martin, 58, lives opposite the property where Jessica’s body was found in Siddal, Halifax, with her elderly father, Charles Shaw, 88, and said the community was in shock at her death.

Rita said: “Jess was such a nice girl. She had an older daughter who used to wave and say hello to my dad all the time.

“That’s how we got talking and I used to speak to her often. She was just a nice, normal mom.

“I just can’t take it in. The whole community is extremely saddened by what’s happened.”

She said it was “heartbreaking” to see a woman arrive at the home yesterday, breaking down at the scene.

Friends have paid tribute to Jess, with one writing: “Sleep well beautiful, one of the nicest people I’ve ever met.”

Another wrote: “Beautiful lady inside and out.”

A third wrote: “Sleep tight beautiful”.

West Yorkshire Police are investigating and appealing for witnesses to the incident in the Siddal area.

Detective Jaz Khan who is leading the investigation, said: “Police have launched a murder enquiry following the discovery of a woman’s body in a house in Siddal.

“Officers have made two arrests in connection with the investigation and those men remain in custody for questioning.

“I am still very much appealing for anyone who may have information or have seen suspicious behaviour outside the address to come forward.”

A post-mortem will be conducted in due course to determine the cause of death.
