HATE preacher Abu Hamza has claimed he was told about the 9/11 attacks before they happened – but has blamed British spy chiefs for not alerting America.
The caged rabble-rouser said militant contacts in Afghanistan called him four days before 3,000 died in the outrage warning: “Something very big will happen very soon.”
Hook-handed Hamza, 59, said he knew the impending terrorist strike would be an attack on America – and he supported it.
But he claims the phone at his West London home was being tapped at the time and questioned why the warning was not passed on the the US.
The evil cleric famously crowed with delight after al-Qaeda terrorists flew hijacked jets into the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in September 2001.
Jihadis slaughtered 2,996 people in the callous attacks in an event which has shaped US foreign policy ever since.
Details of the phone call are revealed in American court papers which reveal Hamza was an MI5 agent and was known by the code name “Damson Berry”.
In a 124-page handwritten submission, Abu Hamza says he has been singled out and “punished” since 9/11.
He writes in broken English: “The defendant received a call from Afghanistan on Friday, Sept 7, 2001, from 2 of his old neighbours in his Pakistan time (1991-93) saying ‘Something very big will happen very soon’ (meaning USA).”
The former imam of North London’s Finsbury Park mosque is appealing against his conviction for terror offences and his “inhuman” treatment at an American“supermax” prison in Colorado.
He was found guilty of 11 terrorism charges in 2014 and later sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
But he has launched an appeal in the hope of being transferred to a cushier jail in the UK.
The now white-haired Hamza has moaned about a skin condition on his stumps and the state of his cell — and begs to return to Britain.
His case is being paid for out of US public funds.
This latest claim follows an eight-year fight by Hamza during his hate preaching days, against his extradition which cost British taxpayers almost £1million.
