AMIR Khan has been spotted tucking into a McDonald’s meal, before treating himself to a manicure and a pedicure – after leaving I’m A Celeb.
The goofy boxer, who has been accused of bullying Iain Lee while in the jungle, used his new-found freedom to scoff fast food with his brother and pals after shedding weight on the show.
Amir left the jungle on Friday after his popularity with viewers plummeted during his tiff with Iain over their prank, dubbed “strawberry-gate”.
And now he’s tucked into something a lot less healthy than strawberries with brother Haroon – though he did opt for a strawberry milkshake.
The 31-year-old – who says his jungle stint has cemented his love for his wife after their relationship meltdown this year – sat around munching with his crew before heading for a less macho appointment.
Rolling down his socks, Amir was snapped preparing for a pedicure and manicure in a salon – presumably to scrub off any last remnants of cockroach.
Chatting on the phone, Amir – who is now back for good with wife Faryal Makhdoom – started spending his £300,000 I’m A Celeb fee on the things that matter most.
And those things are obviously his hands and feet, which are very important to a boxer, of course.
But it seems Amir will be remembered for something else after his I’m A Celeb stint – his lack of basic general knowledge.
The sportsman dropped clangers like “Have we ever had a female Prime Minister?”, and revealed he had no idea what a “critter” was.
For all his featherweight brain matter, Amir has shown his heart his in the right place by donating some of his fee to the charity Barnado’s.
Amir was the highest-paid contestant ever, just pipping Katie Price, who was paid £250,000 to return to the jungle.
And Amir has been forced to defend himself from claims he was cruel to comedian Iain.
The star released an extended statement addressing the accusations and said: “I’ve never bullied Iain in any way, it’s the opposite, I would be the one to put my arm around him and tell him not to worry. I would always walk with him and talk to him about life, I wanted to make him feel better.
“So to be cast as the bad guy has really hurt and upset me.
“I count Iain as a friend and I told him I would try to help out in any way I could, like signing boxing gloves for his sons and help him financially by giving him money if he ever needed it.
“I can’t believe that I’ve come out to all this.”
He went on: “At one time, when he was lonely and sitting on his own, I was the only one who was checking if he was OK.
“I would even go and wash pots and pans with him, when I didn’t need to, just to give him some company and make him feel part of the group.
“ITV would never allow bullying, I was never called into that Bush Telegraph and given a talking to.
“No-one ever said anything to me from production while I was in there and I even spoke to ITV after and said, ‘Is everything OK?’ and they said, ‘Yeah, you should get your views out about what happened. But we don’t think any bullying happened.’”
Iain, who has suffered from depression, is among the finalists on I’m A Celeb – the others being Georgia “Toff” Toffolo and Jamie Lomas.
The show concludes tonight at 9pm on ITV.
