A woman has died just days after she arrived in Thailand on holiday after reportedly falling from her hotel balcony.
Louise Furey, 27, was killed in the tragic accident on Friday, just two days after she arrived in the country with her boyfriend Sam Bulmer.
The couple were staying at the Replay Residence and Pool Villa resort on the island of Koh Samui, with Louise posting a picture of them enjoying a drink by the beach on Facebook.
It is understood that Louise died after a fall from a balcony at her resort, the Irish Mirror reports .
Local police have begun an investigation into the exact circumstances of her death and her family have travelled out to make their own arrangements to bring her body home.
Louise, who worked in children’s services in the Channel Islands, is from the village of Glenties in County Donegal.
Her father Patsy was a well-loved Donegal Gaelic sports fan before he died two years ago and her mother Breege was a respected teacher.
The chairman of the village’s community group, Brian Carr, told a local newspaper that the whole town was "numb" after the tragedy.
"Louise moved to Guernsey a few years ago but was a frequent visitor home," he said.
"Louise went on what would be called the trip of a lifetime just last Wednesday with her boyfriend Sam to Thailand, unfortunately a holiday that had such a tragic ending.
"The town is numb and in total shock with such terrible news. Our thoughts and prayers are with Louise’s family at this time."
