Kirkby man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after woman in her 70s left with ’serious injuries’

AN 80-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was found suffering serious injuries this morning.

The woman, in her 70s, was found badly injured at a Cumbria house on Thursday morning, rushed to the Royal Preston Hospital by air ambulance.

 Emergency services rushed to New Road in Kirby Lonsdale after reports that a woman had been injured

Emergency services had been called to the home on New Road, Kirkby Londsdale, just before 8am today.

Police arrested the 80-year-old man and are now conducting searches of the property.

A Cumbria Constabulary spokesperson said: "The woman, in her 70s, has suffered serious injuries and has been taken to the Royal Preston Hospital by air ambulance.

"An 80-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

"A cordon has been placed outside the property while officers carry out enquiries."

Dodgson Croft, from the A65 roundabout to New Road, has been closed.
