When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced they would be tying the knot in Windsor Castle many people were disappointed they wouldn’t get the famous Buckingham Palace balcony kiss.
But royal fans finally got to see the new Duchess of Sussex on the famous landmark at the weekend when she joined her new in-laws for Trooping of the Colour.
Despite being a firm favourite in the last few months in the lead up to her wedding, Meghan was stood in the back for her balcony debut – behind her new sister-in-law Kate.
When Kate made her first Trooping of the Colour appearance she had a lovely spot in the front row, so why didn’t Meghan?
Joe Little, the managing editor of Majesty magazine, told PEOPLE : "She was not as prominent perhaps as some people might have expected, but there’s a pecking order.
"There was no slight intended, but William being the older, more senior brother would go out [first] with his wife."
However PEOPLE has another royal source with disagreed with this logic, saying Meghan would have picked her own spot on the balcony.
They said: "There’s no one laying this out, telling her where to stand."
They also believed this year’s standing arrangements would been around the kids, as there were lots of little ones there this year!
As always, Prince George and Princess Charlotte stole the show at this year’s event along with their cousin Savannah Phillips.
The three little royals looked like they were having a great time as they stood right at the front to watch the flypast.
Charlotte had a teary moment when she dropped the booklet she was reading but mum Kate picked her up to comfort her.
