Mel B reveals she’s been ’close to death and paralysed by fear’ during bitter divorce battle with ex Stephen BelafonteApprentice fans couldn’t even pick just one winner after Lord Sugar’s shock double hiring

APPRENTICE fans were just as confused as Lord Alan Sugar when it came to deciding who should win this year's series, it has been revealed.

Making history, Lord Sugar decided BOTH Sarah Lynn and James White should be his business partners on Sunday night after they went head-to-head in the boardroom.

The businessman admitted he just couldn't choose between the two remaining candidates, so in a shock move decided to double his investment and offer them both a £250,000 cash sum.

Lord Sugar's boardroom bombshell came as a surprise to viewers at home, but it seems even they couldn't make up their minds about who should win.

Before the final scene was aired, BBC bosses ran an online poll to gauge fans' thoughts, asking: "Who are you backing to be @Lord_Sugar's business partner? #TheApprentice #TeamJames #Team Sarah."

The results have now been revealed, with 49 per cent picking James and 51 per cent choosing Sarah.

Sharing the outcome on the official Apprentice Twitter account, a spokesman for the show has said: "It wasn't just @Lord_Sugar who was split on who to pick as the winner… #TheApprentice."

A total of 18 candidates were chosen to take part in this year's series of The Apprentice.

Sarah and James were the last two standing and both seriously impressed Lord Sugar during the final episode.

While Sarah hoped to gain his £250,000 investment for her own confectionery company, James said wanted to use the cash to launch an IT recruitment business.

But in the final boardroom scene, Lord Sugar admitted that he simply couldn't decide which candidate to make his business partner – so he doubled his investment.

This was the first time in 13 series' of The Apprentice that the businessman has chosen two winners.

Announcing his decision, Lord Sugar told them: "James – crowded market, but I’ve had some experience with a similar person of a similar age who is making a lot, a lot of money.

"Sarah – sweets. I don’t have any experience of your business, OK. I’m going to say that I’m a gambler and I’ve always been a gambler in business.

"This particular year, I’m going to double my investment… I’m going to start a business with both of you."
