MPs set to reject crackdown on booze sales in Parliament despite bullying and sexual harassment scandal

A cross-party committee will block a bid to ban alcohol from cafes and snub an 11.45pm “last orders” in bars.

Currently MPs have 30 minutes to buy drinks after Parliament’s business ends for the night — however late.

The plans to curb booze were put forward by Westminster’s catering services. They followed revelations about bullying and sexual harassment during the “sexminster” scandal last year.

A source said: “The Commission are expected to reject the plans apart from checks for underage drinking.”
