Nurse killed after running toward London Bridge terror attack

Kirsty Boden, a 28-year-old Australian nurse who ran to help the injured during the terror attack at London Bridge, has been identified as one of the seven killed.

“Kirsty was loved and adored by her family, friends and boyfriend,” her family said in a statement, abc.net.au reported.

“She was the most outgoing, kind and generous person who loved to help people. Helping people was what she loved to do in her job as a nurse and in her daily life,” they said.

“We are so proud of Kirsty’s brave actions which demonstrate how selfless, caring and heroic she was, not only on that night, but throughout all of her life. Kirsty — we love you and we will miss you dearly.”

Another Australian — 21-year-old Sara Zelenak from Brisbane — remains missing after she was last seen fleeing from the three jihadists while wearing high heels, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Boden, who was from the South Australian town of Loxton, was an avid traveler and ran a blog in which she identified herself as an Aussie living in London who worked full time in health care, the Herald reported.

She described herself as “just your average dreamer, with a full-time job and a constant longing to go where I haven’t been,” the paper said.

Recent postings detailed her travels in Italy, Bulgaria and Portugal – as well as a trip to Kiev, Ukraine, for the 2017 Eurovision song contest.

“I recognise that I might not go everywhere but I should definitely go everywhere I can, and so should you!” Boden wrote. “At risk of sounding cliche, life is short and we should all use the time we have wisely.”

It was unclear whether Boden was killed at London Bridge or during the rampage that followed in the Borough Market area.

“She was a beautiful girl inside and out. Very friendly, caring, always with a smile on her face. Just such a waste, such a waste of such a beautiful girl,” her former teacher Jane Garrard told 9NEWS.

“Her parents can rightly be very proud of her. It does not surprise me that if there was a situation where someone else was in need that she wouldn’t jump in and do that at her own expense,” she said.
