The parents separated over questions about the boy’s real father until a DNA test revealed an even more shocking truth
The man’s father reportedly asked for the DNA test after splitting with his wife over doubts about whether the 28-year-old was his biological son.
A DNA test was taken to establish the ‘too good looking’ son’s real parents
But Chinese TV station Kanka News reports the couple were then told their ‘son’ was in fact not genetically related to either of them.
It is now believed the husband and wife were handed the wrong baby in a Shanghai Hospital in 1989.
The woman, named as Zhang by local media, said the pair had both been troubled by their son’s good looks.
She said: “[My son] has big eyes and a high nose bridge. His father is not very good looking and is quite different [from my son].”
The couple separated in 2004 after the husband repeatedly accused Zhang of cheating on him.
Their son, whose name is reported to be Wang Ye, said he is still in shock over the results.

The man’s mother split with her husband in 2004 over accusations of infidelity
He said: “I still cannot believe it. After all, we have lived together for such a long time. I cannot accept the fact.”
Zhang has now launched a lawsuit against the hospital. She said she now wants to find her real son and help Wang Ye find his real parents.
The mother also demanded a compensation of 1.3 million yuan (£146,000) from the hospital.
The hospital said in a statement on July 28 that they have launched an investigation.
