A NEW skyscraper planned for Croydon has been compared to a giant sex toy by horrified locals.
The 68-storey tower is described by its developers as “incredibly beautiful” and “visually striking”.
But residents have been quick to point out its resemblance to a vibrator.
Writing online, local Tom Wright, 34, said: "Great, just what Croydon needs, a building that looks like a giant sex toy."
Another, Sarah Williams said: "It looks like a Rampant Rabbit."
Martin Wapshott added: “It looks like a vibrator”.
When complete the building, called One Landsdowne Road, will soar to 775ft making it Britain’s second tallest skyscraper.
It is only pipped by the 1,017ft Shard in London Bridge.
Comprising of 68 storeys it is set to include just under 800 flats, offices, a gym, restaurant, hotels, and various shops.
The skyscraper, which will also have a 41-storey "baby" skyscraper alongside it, was given the nod by planners at Croydon Council last week, although it still needs to be approved by London Mayor Sadiq Khan.
David Hudson, chief executive of developers Guildhouse UK Limited, said: "I think it is an incredibly beautiful building designed by an amazing architect – it is visually striking as well as being relatively cheap and easy to build.
"It's an affordable tall tower for Croydon which adds drama and interest to the skyline as well as boasting affordability.
"I feel that it is a design which embodies the values of Croydon rather than the tastes and needs of central London."
