Richard Madeley sparks outrage after making Harvey Weinstein massage joke at charity gala event

TELEVISION presenter Richard Madeley sparked outrage when he made a joke about Harvey Weinstein at a charity do.

The former This Morning host, 61, told guests on offer in a raffle was a 60 minute “relaxing body massage” before adding “Harvey Weinstein will not be present”, the Sun’s Bizarre column can reveal.

Gwynth Paltrow has been one of many huge stars who have spoken out about Weinstein, 65, and claimed he demanded a massage from them.

Richard’s joke was received with “ohhs” and laughter from the audience at the Pinktober Gala charity event at The Dorchester hotel in London on Friday night.

Telling guests about the prize of a spa weekend at the "five star Mayfair Hotel", he said: "Also included you can choose from the following 60 minute treatments.

"Personalised facial.

“Relaxing body massage – Harvey Weinstein will not be present.

"I would've thought by the time you were there reserving the prize he would be in jail.”

Scores of actors have accused Hollywood producer Weinstein of sexually assaulting them including huge names Cara Delevingne, Kate Beckinsale and Emma Watson.

Weinstein has denied allegations of non-consensual sex.

Richard's comments came as comedian James Corden was forced to apologise for jokes about the disgraced Weinstein.

Gavin and Stacey star and The Late Late Show host Corden made jokes about the scandal at the annual amfAR gala in Los Angeles at the weekend.

He said: "It's been weird this week watching Harvey Weinstein in hot water. Ask any of the women who watched him take a bath, it's weird."

And in another quip, he joked: "It's a beautiful night here in LA.

"So beautiful, Harvey Weinstein has already asked tonight up to his hotel to give him a massage."

“I was not trying to make light of Harvey’s inexcusable behaviour but to shame him, the abuser, not his victims.

“I am truly sorry for anyone offended, that was never my intention.”
