How Sky customers can get 80 new channels without paying a penny more

EXISTING Sky TV customers are being given the chance to upgrade their plan and get an extra 80 channels without upping their bill.

The television company is upgrading its popular Original bundle to a new Sky Entertainment package which will include dozens more channels for the same price.

The brand new package – which includes MTV, Sky Atlantic and Discovery as well as 350 other channels- will also allow customers to personalise their plans.

The new plan means viewers will also be able to add on boosters as and when they like, such as children's channels and box-sets for £5 a month – but this doesn't include Sky Sports or Cinema.

The £20 Sky Entertainment bundle is now available to all of the 12 million households it serves.

A spokesman said: “We’re introducing a new TV package called Sky Entertainment, which will let customers make Sky TV their own by personalising it based on what they love to watch.

"All customers will be able to enjoy the new package from January."

Those on the Original deal or any other plan can now get in touch with Sky to upgrade and they will be placed onto a new 18 month contract.

Others that don't want to be tied down to a contract can join for £25 a month instead of £20.

Dani Warner, TV expert at told the Mirror: "This relaunch brings Sky much more in line with the sort of versatility on offer to Netflix and NOW TV customers – and away from the rather tired looking traditional subscription model.

"It also includes the documentary and music channels that previously came as standard with Variety – with add-ons, such as kids content and HD, that can each be tacked-on for £5 extra a month.

"All in all, this is a step forward for Sky, who seems to be learning from competitors and sub-brands like TalkTalk and NOW TV and realising that people want the freedom to access the content they want, when they want it."
