After speaking to Mariano Rajoy, Spain’s PM, she said the UK “stands shoulder to shoulder” with his country.
She added: “We must work together if we’re to confront this evil of terrorism and also deal with the perverted extremist ideology which drives it, ridding the internet of poisonous material.
“Terrorism is the great threat that we all face.”
Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson rang Spain’s foreign minister Alfonso Dastis to pledge British help, saying: “Together we will defeat terrorism.”
Mr Dastis replied on Twitter: “I appreciate the support of UK.”
