THE EuroMillions draw is arguably the most eagerly awaited in the whole of Europe, with massive rollover jackpots capable of changing lives forever.
Here is everything you need to know about the lottery and just what your chances of winning are…
EuroMillions is an international lottery set up by Camelot and its national counterparts from nine different countries.
As well as in the UK, tickets can be bought online or from authorised lottery retailers in Austria, Belgium, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland.
Massive top prizes are on offer because the number of countries participating means more ticket sales putting into a single pot.
The national lottery’s website says winners can “live the kind of lifestyle usually reserved for the rich and famous”.
The biggest ever jackpot – which has been won on three occasions, including by a Brit couple in 2012 – was €190million (£148million at the time).
The numbers are drawn on Tuesday and Friday evenings at around 8pm, with the jackpot for Friday, January 12, standing at £44m.
Players choose five numbers between 1-50 and two Lucky Star numbers between 1-12 – or else select Lucky Dip for a random selection.
EuroMillions has a total of 13 prize tiers depending on how many numbers a player gets right.
This means the overall odds of winning some form of prize stand at one in 13.
But in order to win the grand jackpot, players need to match all five main numbers and both lucky star numbers.
Out of the 13 prize tiers, the smallest is for those who match just two numbers.
Players who get two of the main five numbers and no Lucky Star numbers can win an estimated £3.30.
Adding one Lucky Star to this will up the prize to around £6, while one main number and two Lucky Stars will bag you roughly £7.60.
