A WOMAN'S body has been discovered inside a flat where a blood-soaked man leapt from a second floor window and allegedly attacked people below.
Cops were called to Swan Street in Manchester's city centre this morning after reports that a man was "behaving erratically" and a "number of people had been assaulted".
Witnesses reported seeing a man jump from the window onto a family's car before allegedly assaulting "a number of people".
After police arrived at the flat they found the woman's body.
A 37-year-old man was arrested nearby on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody for questioning.
Superintendent Chris Hill, of GMP’s City of Manchester team, said: “We are currently working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding what has happened this morning and the woman’s death.
“Her death is currently being treated as suspicious and we have a team of officers working at the scene.
“We are in the very early stages of our investigation however I would urge anyone with any information to please get in touch.”
Onlookers told Manchester Evening News how a man was pinned to the ground by officers after he attacked the family and passerbys.
Photos reveal blood smeared on the outside of a two-storey building.
Underneath is a black Hyundi car with its windscreen caved in.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said earlier: "Shortly after 7.40am today, police received reports that a man was behaving erratically on Swan Street and that a number of people had been assaulted.
"Officers attended and a man has been detained in the area.
"Enquiries in to the circumstances are ongoing."
