A RACING scandal has erupted with a jockey getting hit with a 'colossal' cocaine ban.

Gearoid Brouder tested positive for a metabolite of cocaine on the same day he was given a 21-day ban for not riding a horse on its true merits.

Incredibly, the horse, Ellaat, was also banned for 90 days and trainer Charles Byrnes was fined €6,000 – just over £5,000.

Traces of cocaine were found on a test conducted on Brouder at Gowran Park in Ireland on May 10.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board confirmed the jockey's licence is 'suspended for four years with the possiblity of the final three years suspended subject to conditions'.

Brouder is already serving a year-long ban from the training ranks.

This was imposed as a result of 'irregularities' found during stable inspections last September.

The Racing Post quote IHRB communications manager Niall Cronin as saying: "It’s a four-year suspension. In 12 months' time he can apply for a suspension of the final three years.

"That would be subject to certain conditions set out by the referrals committee which would include engagement and co-operation with the chief medical officer Dr Jennifer Pugh.

"The full decision of the referrals committee will be issued in the coming days."

Ellaat's ride caused a huge amount of controversy when the Charles Byrnes-trained seven-year-old gelding finished fourth in a 1m6f handicap.

Stewards hauled Brouder and Byrnes in for questioning after the race and, after hearing their explanations, were certain the horse had been stopped from running on its true merits.

Byrnes was fined, Brouder banned and the horse barred from running for 90 days.

This cocaine positive, though, shows Brouder failed a drugs test on that same day.

Cathal Byrnes, the owner of the horse and son of the trainer, said in an interview with Racing TV that Brouder's drugs ban was 'colossal'.

He said: "The fact he tested positive and was allowed to ride on the day – I can't understand that.

"The jockey has tested positive, you have to assume it was significant, a four-year suspension is colossal.

"We can't appeal, my horse is still suspended, my trainer was hit with a large fine, I just don't know what to make of it.

"I'm lost for words. I'm so disappointed and upset over the whole thing.

"We're getting thrown under the bus, there were other failings that obviously happened.

Paris St Germain have granted superstar striker Kylian Mbappe permission to talk to Al Hilal after the Saudi Arabian club submitted a world-record £259 million offer (€300m).

The 24-year-old forward has not signed a one-year extension to his existing PSG deal, meaning he will be a free agent next summer and able to walk away for nothing.

Mbappe, who starred in France’s 2018 World Cup success and again as Les Bleus reached the final in Qatar last year, was left out of his club’s squad for a pre-season tour of Japan.

  • When the groom is the co-founder of a hip magazine brand and supermodel Kate Moss is a former girlfriend, you just know his wedding will be a ridiculously stylish and star-studded affair.

Sure enough, Jefferson Hack and Anna Cleveland’s lavish nuptials in Windsor exceeded all expectations.

From the achingly cool guest list, which was made up almost entirely of fashion royalty, to the stunning riverside location, the elegant event – which took place on 15 July – was– masterclass in how to get married in style.

The loved-up couple, who fell for each other four years ago after initially meeting in 2016 at the Los Angeles launch of Jefferson’s book We Can’t Do This Alone, had put so much thought and consideration into every single detail.

The result was a flawless, picture-perfect day that will no doubt inspire countless other weddings.

American model Anna, 34, looked breathtaking in an exquisite boat-neck, backless lace creation complete with a long train and matching veil.

    • Comments

Not even the presence of her new husband’s ex, catwalk queen Kate Moss, could upstage the bride.

Kate, who was there with her current partner, Nikolai von Bismarck, 36, proved that she’s remained extremely close to 52-year-old Jefferson, who she shares daughter Lila with.

The blonde model, 49, looked half her age in a green, beaded floor-length dress, paired with a green velvet coat, while Lila looked lovely in sunny yellow. She was accompanied by her long-term boyfriend Yoni Helbitz.

    • Share
    • Comments

Lila described Anna as the “perfect bride” afterwards.

There was a lovely story behind the bride’s choice of dress, which had been designed by Lavinia Biagiotti – the third-generation Italian designer once babysat for Anna while her mum Pat modelled for Lavinia’s mother, Laura.

Anna, who accessorised with heels by Roger Vivier, said of the dress designer, “I knew Lavinia would understand who I truly am. That was what was important for me.”

    • Share
    • Comments

The bride completed the look with a stunning Serpenti necklace from the Italian luxury brand Bvlgari. Talking about the meaning behind it, she said, “The snake is a symbol of endless metamorphosis, which in this case was perfect to represent this new evolution in my life towards a future full of changes – and new beginnings!”

Jefferson, co-founder of Dazed Media, looked super chic for the ceremony in a double-breasted, baby blue two-piece suit.

    • Share
    • Comments

The groom’s suit, along with the outfit he wore for the reception, was designed by good friend Kim Jones. Jefferson said, “Kim and I have been friends since the early noughties, when he first started his own label. He’s now the greatest menswear designer of his generation, so it was a real honour to have him and the house of Dior make two custom looks for me.”

    • Share
    • Comments

Jefferson’s daughter Lila also had two different outfits for the special occasion. For the ceremony, which took place at the St James the Less church in Dorney (picked out by the couple because of its “romantic and intimate” feel), she wore a beautiful purple bias-cut maxi dress.

Later on, as the reception got under way at Oakley Court, a Gothic pile in Windsor, Lila opted for a stunning yellow floaty dress, which she accessorised with black heels and a black Chanel handbag.

    • Share
    • Comments

Also in attendance at the wedding were famous faces including Sadie Frost, Tilda Swinton, Bobby Gillespie, Bella Freud, Björk, Erin O’Connor, Pam Hogg and Daphne Guinness.

On arrival at the reception, guests were treated to a new non-alcoholic champagne called Love Conquers All, which has recently been launched by the newlyweds’ “dear friend” Waris Ahluwalia. Given that neither Anna nor Jefferson drink alcohol, this proved to be the perfect fizz to toast the happy couple.

    • Share
    • Comments

And on picking Oakley Court for the reception, Jefferson said, “It’s an extremely bucolic part of the River Thames, with gorgeous grounds, and the main house has charming Gothic architecture, which gave the wedding a fairy-tale, whimsical atmosphere.”

Guests were taken to beautifully decorated bell tents in the grounds of the estate where they were treated to a vegan and gluten-free feast made by chefs Johnnie Collins and Mateo Zielonka. The happy couple then changed into their evening outfits before cutting the wedding cake, which was created by Marc Quinn and described as an “edible sculpture” inspired by the bride and groom’s thumbprints.

    • Share
    • Comments

Anna shimmering evening gown had also been designed by Laura Biagiotti.

Describing her dress, Anna said, “I love the way the dress moves and shines – it felt like a magical choice for a glittering day.”

    • Share
    • Comments

Providing the music were hip London DJ’s such as Louie Banks, Josh Quinton, Princess Julia and Jodie Harsh, and guests danced the night away to club classics before devouring vegan cheese toasties as a late-night snack.

Talk about ending the night in style.

MEGAN Fox has left fans speechless after her latest sexy snaps.

The Transformers star nearly had a major wardrobe malfunction while splashing around in a tiny bikini.

Megan took to the beach for a recent photo shoot with photographer Cibelle Levi, posing at dusk among the crashing waves.

The 37-year-old shared the photos to her Instagram.

Megan posed in a sheer black bodysuit, which was split open in the front, exposing her breasts.

Only a pair of tiny triangles spared her from spilling out.

The bodysuit was transparent, revealing her bikini bottoms.

Megan indulged in a variety of poses, including leaning up against some rocks and lying in the sand as the soft waves caressed her.

She captioned her post with a reference to "Cliodhna, queen of the banshees."

Megan has had a well documented on-off romance with rapper Machine Gun Kelly since 2020.

It was reported last year that the couple had become engaged with Megan later confirming the news herself.

Despite this, The U.S. Sun recently revealed how the pair are no longer living together after the rocker "partied with other women" at his Los Angeles mansion.

The couple was first hit with split rumours in February when it was speculated that the rocker had cheated on Megan – with her believing he had had an affair – however the pair denied a third party was involved.

An insider spilled to The U.S. Sun: "Megan has not been at the house at all, since before his birthday.

"They were living together even during the cheating rumours before they went to Hawaii.

LEGENDARY Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest player Chris Bart-Williams has died.

The former football star, who had been based in the US in recent years, died aged just 49.

In a statement the club added: " We are deeply saddened at the passing of our former player Chris Bart-Williams."

It came the same day ex-Nottingham Forest forward and England legend Trevor Francis died aged 69.

Francis also played for Sheffield Wednesday, with the team playing tribute to both stars.

Sheffield Wednesday FC said: "Bart-Williams' untimely passing mirrors that of his manager at Hillsborough, Trevor Francis, who also died on this, one of the darkest days in our long history."

It was a life dedicated to the game which he started building foundations for as a mere 16-year-old.

After retiring in 2006 he moved to the United States and helped coach their successful women's national team. Aged 47, he last year worked in US academy football.

Bart-Williams, who was nicknamed Bartman, was just 16 when he earned a spot in the Leyton Orient first-team.

His talent was quickly recognised, and the teen was shifted up to Sheffield Wednesday.

The Owls shelled out £275,000 to bring him to Hillsborough in 1991, the year they were promoted to the English top flight, the First Division, as it was then known.

The Sierra Leone-born man played 124 times for Wednesday, scoring 16 goals – including a hat-trick against Southampton.

In 1995, Bart-Williams joined Nottingham Forest in a £2.5million move. He played more than 200 games for Forest, finding the net 30 times, despite playing several games at sweeper.

He left in 2001 to join Charlton after the City Ground club found themselves in financial trouble.

Bart-Williams played for Ipswich for a short period before he jetted to Cyprus.

He played a handful of games at Marsaxlokk before hanging up his boots – until he met American coach Tony DiCicco.

Under the legendary guidance of Dicocco he lead two women’s teams.

After almost more than five years in Connecticut, the coach admitted he was exhausted.

Speaking to The Mirror, Bart-Williams said: "I was burned out. I needed to take a break for three or four years to recuperate.

"I'd spent a such a large portion of my life – since I was 16 – in the professional game and then had six or seven years coaching in Connecticut. I was done."

But, he quickly started his own business working with youngsters, which he admitted he was loving in 2018.

Speaking from his home in Charlotte, North Carolina at the time, Bart-Williams said he could see himself staying in the states for the rest of his time.

He said: "It's very different. I don't miss the English weather, that's for sure!

"I miss the people, the banter, the fierce sarcasm, a good old cup of English tea, an English breakfast and the cultural environment, but Americans are very generous people, they really are.”

Bart-Williams added: "I do miss England at times, but we have a nice life over here, we really do."

SOCCER icon Shaka Hislop has broken his silence after his terrifying collapse live on TV.

The ex-Premier League was standing by the side of the pitch ahead of the game between Real Madrid and AC Milan.

Suddenly, the former goalkeeper tumbled over and out of sight, leaving ESPN viewers in shock.

The 54-year-old – who retired in 2007 – was attended to by medics and checked over at the Rose Bowl on Sunday night.

And the ex-Portsmouth legend has given fans a health update on his social media accounts.

Hislop said: "Well, that was awkward. What a 24 hours this has been.

"Listen every so often life gives you a moment to pause, and this was mine.

"There's so much I have to be thankful for.

"My wife, kids, family, loved ones, friends.

"People I've shared a space with over the years and have lost touch with for whatever reason and have reached out directly or indirectly.

But Hislop gave viewers and ESPN host Dan Thomas a huge fright when he passed out live on air before kick-off.

With the temperature in Pasadena, California, sky-high, dramatic footage captured the moment Hislop began to sway.

He then fell forwards and onto the ground, with the TV network cutting to a advert break straight away.

Manchester City stars hit the pool as they continued their preparations for the new season in Tokyo, Japan.

Pep Guardiola’s side kicked-off their pre-season tour on Saturday with a 5-3 win against Yokohama F. Marinos.

And before their next fixture, the players have been making the most of their surroundings by resting and recovering in the pool.

City stars Jack Grealish, Nathan Ake, John Stones and new signing Mateo Kovacic were among those pictured looking relaxed and focused, as they prepare to face Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

The quartet showed off their impressive physiques in the shots, as Guardiola’s men gear up for the Premier League title defence following last season’s Treble-winning heroics.

Jack Grealish looks in deep thought as he relaxes between games on City’s pre-season tour

Defender Nathan Ake and his Man City team are making a real splash whilst on tour in Japan

Manchester City have so far only added Mateo Kovacic to their squad in the summer window

Saturday’s win saw City come from 2-0 down to beat the Japanese champions, with Stones converting from just inside the box before Julian Alvarez drew them level.

City made ten changes at the break and it was Erling Haaland who added two further goals either side of a Rodri strike, to see the Premier League champions run out comfortable winners in the end.

The game saw a first run out in a City shirt for £25m new boy Kovacic, while Joao Cancelo made his first appearance for the club since his falling-out with Guardiola in January.

Kyle Walker captained the side despite his future at the club still unclear.

The England defender is the subject of interest from Bayern Munich and the two clubs are set to discuss a deal in the coming days that could see Walker seal a £13m move to the German giants.

City play Munich on Wednesday in an 11.30am kick-off UK time at the Japan National Stadium, before travelling to Seoul, South Korea, to play Atletico Madrid on Sunday.

A former Northwestern volleyball player filed a lawsuit Monday morning in Illinois claiming that the school and its athletic department were negligent in response to an alleged hazing incident that occurred in the spring of 2021.

The player, who filed her lawsuit anonymously, says she was injured while running sprints as part of a “punishment” sanctioned by head coach Shane Davis, and that Davis “enabled a culture of racism, bullying, harassment, hazing and retaliation” within Northwestern’s volleyball program. Davis is listed as a defendant in the lawsuit along with the school’s two most recent presidents and three most recent athletic directors.

Her lawyers, Parker Stinar and Patrick Salvi, filed multiple lawsuits on behalf of Northwestern football players last week in the wake of the school firing football coach Pat Fitzgerald due to hazing accusations. They say they have spoken to athletes who played a variety of sports at the school, including football, volleyball, baseball and softball. Stinar said the experience of those athletes shows the pattern of a pervasive, school-wide problem with hazing in its athletic department.

“Jane Doe’s complaint outlines the institutional failures at Northwestern beyond the volleyball and football programs, shedding light of a corrupt athletic department,” Stinar said in a statement provided to ESPN on Monday morning.

A spokesman for the university did not respond Monday morning to questions about the alleged incident.

The volleyball player attended Northwestern from 2019 through 2023, according to the lawsuit. She said that she contracted COVID in February 2021 and the coaches decided to punish her for breaking the team’s COVID safety guidelines. She says she followed the guidelines.

In early March of that year, according to the lawsuit, Davis told his team’s captains to pick a “punishment” for the player. The captains made the player “run suicide” sprints that included diving to the ground at each line on the gymnasium floor while her teammates and coaches watched. She said she was injured and required medical attention after completing the sprints.

The following day, Northwestern opened an investigation into hazing within the program, according to the lawsuit. The player says the school eventually determined hazing had occurred, but did not share the final results of the investigation with her and did not punish any of the volleyball coaches or players.

The school has not publicly shared information about an investigation into the volleyball program and did not immediately respond to a request to confirm an investigation. The team did postpone two weeks of matches in early March 2021, according to the athletic department website. The two announcements say one weekend series against Michigan State was cancelled due to COVID protocols and the second weekend series against Wisconsin was postponed due to “a pause in Northwestern team activities.” No other details were provided in that announcement.

The player said she was isolated after the March 2021 incident, and that Davis refused to properly coach her during practices. She said she met with current athletic director Derrick Gragg concerning the team’s culture during the 2021-22 academic year. According to the lawsuit, she remained on the team through December 2022 when she medically retired from the sport.

FULHAM are on the verge of signing Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Raul Jimenez.

The 32 year-old Mexican international forward has scored 57 goals in 166 games since moving to Wolves from Benfica in 2018.

But Jimenez has found himself surplus to requirements under Julen Lopetegui and is now due to complete a shock switch to Premier League rivals Fulham.

The star, who suffered a fractured skull in November 2020, has allegedly agreed terms to join the Cottagers.

And a fee of £5.5m is believed to have been agreed between the clubs as Fulham still wait to resolve their stand-off with Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Both the forward and Cottagers boss Marco Silva were offered mega-money deals to move to Saudi Arabia this week.

And the arrival of Jimenez makes it a double-whammy for fans of the West London side.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano tweeted: “Fulham are in talks to sign Raul Jimenez. He’s concrete option being considered as new striker.

“Negotiations are taking place, waiting to understand Marco Silva’s decision on Al Ahli proposal.

Start of play is DELAYED on crucial day five of fourth Test between England and Australia due to rain, with Ben Stokes’s side in a race against time to stop Aussies retaining the Ashes
    • The final day of the fourth Test between England and Australia is finely poised
    • England must win at Old Trafford to stop the Aussies retaining the Ashes
    • They are in a battle against the weather after heavy rain and a poor forecast

The start of play continues to be delayed on the fifth day of the fourth Ashes Test at Old Trafford due to rain in a huge blow to England’s hopes of regaining the Ashes.

An inspection at 12:15PM had given them the biggest boost so far, with play all set to begin at 1PM.

However, shortly after the heavens opened and the start time was put back yet again.

At 2-1 down in the series, Ben Stokes’s side have to win both this game and the final Test at the Oval next week or Australia will retain the urn.

The Aussies were 214-5 overnight, still 61 runs behind after another rain-affected day on Saturday.

The start of play on the fifth day of the fourth Ashes Test has been delayed due to rain

Heavy overnight rain meant it wasn’t possible to begin play at the scheduled 11AM start time

Just 30 overs of play were possible on Day Four as they moved from 113-4 by scoring 101 runs for the loss of just one wicket – which fell to Joe Root – to frustrate England.

The hosts are in a race against time on Sunday with heavy overnight and morning rain, along with further planned throughout the day meaning we are unlikely to see much play.

An inspection was planned at 11AM provided there were no further downpours with a wet outfield after heavy overnight rain at Old Trafford the major problem.

However, shortly before the scheduled inspection it began to rain again, thereby delaying play even further.

If Australia escape with a draw, it would be a cruel blow for Stokes and Co after a superb performance in Manchester.

After bowling Australia out for 317, England racked up 592 all out thanks to a sensational 189 for Zak Crawley, along with fifties for Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Harry Brook, Moeen Ali and Ben Stokes.

In Australia’s second innings, they have so far provided stern resistance but are still 61 runs behind England with just five wickets left.

Saturday’s play didn’t begin until 2:45PM and England were frustrated by Marnus Labuschagne and Mitchell Marsh.

Labuschagne – who has struggled so far in the series – reached a superb hundred, while Marsh was more circumspect than usual and made it to 31 not out by the end of play.

An inspection was planned for 11AM, but then it began to rain again which further delayed play

Ben Stokes’s side are in a race against time to win to stop Australia retaining the Ashes

England were also hampered by poor light which meant the umpires told Stokes at one point he would have to take his seamers off and could only bowl spinners.

However, Root eventually made a crucial breakthrough as he dismissed Labuschagne with one that bounced, with Bairstow taking a good catch on the second attempt.

If Australia escape with a draw, given they hold the Ashes, they would retain the urn.

Nevertheless, Pat Cummins will be desperate to win the series outright at the Oval next week given Australia haven’t won in England since 2001.

The loss left Chile sixth in qualifying and meant that they missed out on a play-off on goal difference.

Posting on Instagram, Pardo said: “Thank you, Captain America, for all that you have experienced. It was really beautiful.

“But when they put on the shirt it has to be with professionalism.

“If the cap fits, put it on and stop crying. Because now it is a whole country that is crying.”

Chile started a dramatic night of South American qualifiers third in the table and on course for an automatic qualification spot.

Argentina jumped up to third as Lionel Messi’s hat-trick gave them a 3-1 win in Ecuador.

With Chile vs Brazil and Colombia vs Peru both goalless at half-time, it appeared to be Chile, Colombia and Peru battling for fourth and fifth spot.

But after the break Manchester City keeper Bravo conceded two goal in three minutes in Sao Paulo.

Colombia then took the lead – meaning Chile were clinging on to fifth spot and heading for a play-off with New Zealand.

But Colombia keeper David Ospina’s blunder allowed Peru to equalise from a free-kick.

That relegated Chile to sixth in the standings below Peru, with another Brazil goal compounding their misery.
