Colorado dad Chris Watts shocked the nation when he was accused and arrested for the triple homicides of his pregnant wife and two young daughters, and now one of the family’s neighbors believes he just “snapped.”
Cheryle Hallowell, who lives two doors down from the murder scene, told RadarOnline.com in an exclusive interview that after living near the Watts family for around five years she “had no clue [Chris] would be capable of something like this.”
As Radar reported, the alleged murderer has been arrested for the brutal slayings of his pregnant wife, Shanann, 34, and their two daughters, Bella, 4, and 3-year-old Celeste, who all went missing on Aug. 13.

At first, said Hallowell, 68, “all we thought was that they were kidnapped, because there was no evidence in the house of any foul play.”
Then, added the neighbor, she saw Chris, 33, do an interview begging for his wife and daughters’ safe return.
“But when I saw his smirk on TV, I just knew there was something up with him. I had that gut feeling.”

Tragically, Watts confessed to the murders and authorities located Shannan, Bella and Celeste’s bodies Aug. 17 on property owned by Chris’ employer, Anadarko Petroleum.
“I think he snapped,” said Hallowell, who believes mounting financial issues and having another baby on the way may have become to much for Watts to bear.
“Maybe that stressed him and he snapped,” Hallowell told Radar. “I don’t know if he was [happy about becoming a dad again] or not. Maybe he really wasn’t, he was just pretending he was.”
