Adele's incredible transformation from her first BRIT Awards aged 19

When She Was Young! Adele’s incredible transformation from her first BRIT Awards aged 19 to designer gowns and a gongs haul aged 33

Adele reigned supreme at the 2022 BRIT Awards on Tuesday night, winning in all three of the categories she was nominated and wowing in a trio of glam gowns.

Rewind 14 years and the star walked her debut BRITS red carpet, where she picked up the first ever Critics Choice Award, weeks after the release of her debut album 19,

The singer arrived at the 2008 ceremony in an assuming black tunic dress layered over black jeans, a far cry from the bespoke Armani she was dressed in for the 2022 red carpet.

2008 was the turning point for the star’s career, after she won the BBC Sound of 2008, the BRITs Critics’ Choice, and debuted her first album to huge acclaim and sales after it shot straight to number one in the UK.

Will Young presented the star’s first ever BRIT Award, before a nervous-looking Adele took to the stage, cheered on by her BRIT Awards pals in the audience.

‘Hiya,’ she said. ‘It’s so nice to be here. This has been going on for like, three months.  I’m not going to talk for too long ‘cos I think speeches are really boring but I’d really like to thank some people. Erm I’ve got my heart beating so fast.’

Winner, winner! Over the years, Adele has received 12 awards from 19 nominations at the BRITS, picking up her latest three on Tuesday night

She later admitted that receiving the award and her soaring fame which surrounded it was ‘overwhelming… I felt quite uncomfortable by it all.. Everyone assuming I was gonna do well.’

Over the years, Adele has received 12 awards from 19 nominations at the BRITS, picking up her latest three on Tuesday night, including the first ever genderless Artist Of The Year gong after the male and female categories were scrapped.

The Easy On Me singer who also won the award for Song Of The Year and the coveted Album Of The Year, hit back at the ‘woke’ ceremony as she insisted she ‘loves being a female artist’, after bosses bowed to calls to rid the awards of gendered categories.

All change: Adele rocked three glam looks at the 2022 ceremony, starting with a custom Armani black velvet gown for the red carpet before changing into a sparkling golden gown by Valentino for her performance a

Adele also tearfully dedicated her Album Of The Year award for ’30’ to her son Angelo, nine, and her ex Simon Konecki because the record is ‘really about them’, before crediting herself for ‘putting out something so personal’.

She beat hotly tipped contender Ed Sheeran in the Artist Of The Year category – which now includes all artists regardless of gender – after they both released long-awaited albums around the same time last year.

During her acceptance speech, Adele told the audience: ‘I understand this award has changed but I love being a female artist!’, as she referenced the changes the awards board had made to the ceremony.

Wow: The star chose a £705 Marianna Senchina Velvet Mini Jacket Dress for her final outfit as she picked up the Artist of the Year gong
