Detectives have reportedly obtained a warrant to seize actor Alec Baldwin’s Apple iPhone “believed to be in his possession”, as part of the on-going investigation into the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, on the set of new Western film, Rust. The warrant stated that there might be evidence on the 63-year-old’s phone that could be “material and relevant to this investigation”, citing various text messages and emails sent to and from Baldwin regarding the production.

In the tragic rehearsal scene that saw two injured, Baldwin used a Colt gun when it discharged a live round back in October.

The search warrant, that was issued by a Santa Fe court in New Mexico on Thursday, said that the actor had exchanged emails with the film’s armorer about the type of gun to be used.

The document read: “He said he requested a bigger gun, and she also showed him different styles of knives for the production.

“Alec was shown a Colt with a brown handle, and a cherry handle, and he ultimately chose the one with the brown handle.”

Investigators have not yet filed any criminal charges.

It comes after the Hollywood movie star said his acting career “could be over”, but denied pulling the trigger in the fatal shooting that saw a prop gun go fire a live round.

Baldwin sat down for his first exclusive interview since Hutchins’ death back in October, where he told Good Morning America host George Stephanopoulos that he dreams about the incident “constantly”.

“I couldn’t give a s**t about my career anymore,” he shrugged.

Stephanopoulos then asked Baldwin: “Is it over?”

To which he replied: “It could be.”

In the tell-all chat, that aired on ABC in the US on Thursday night, Baldwin admitted he doesn’t feel a personal responsibility for Hutchins’ death following the horrific accident.

He also insisted that he only cocked the gun that killed the cinematographer and “didn’t pull the trigger”.

On the day of the shooting, he told Stephanopoulos that he and Hutchins met to rehearse the scene, which saw his character draw his weapon on two others.

Baldwin recalled that during the rehearsal, the film’s first assistant director Dave Halls, handed him a revolver and told him “this is a cold gun”, referring to a weapon that is either empty or loaded with dummy rounds.

But he remained adamant throughout that he never pulled the trigger.

“No, no, no, no, no,” Baldwin shook his head.

“I would never point a gun at anyone and pull a trigger at them.”

The actor then made a shocking and upsetting statement about his own mental state following the accident.

He said: “I might have killed myself if I thought I was responsible, and I don’t say that lightly.

“I don’t know what happened on that set. Someone put a live bullet in a gun, a bullet that wasn’t even supposed to be on the property.

“Someone is responsible for what happened, and I can’t say who that is, but I know it’s not me.”

He added through tear-filled eyes: “I go through my day, and I make it through the day. Then I collapse at the end of the day. Emotionally, I collapse.”
