Alex Rodriguez brushes off claims he’s ‘in a world of pain’ over Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck romance: ‘He’s fine’

Alex Rodriguez’s camp is brushing off claims that he is in a ‘world of pain’ over how quickly Jennifer Lopez moved on with Ben Affleck. 

The former MLB player and sports commentator was reportedly ‘struggling to accept,’ the whirlwind romance, but a new source said that he’s ‘doing fine.’ 

‘Alex is doing fine,’ a source told Page Six on Friday, adding that he’s been focusing on work and his family.

‘He’s been spending time with his family and concentrating on the Timberwolves deal. He’s concentrating on his kids and the team. That’s it,’ the insider added. 

Since Lopez has been glimpsed cozying up to Affleck on a few occasions — including clandestine meetings at her house in Los Angeles and a romantic getaway to Big Sky, Montana — A-Rod, 45, was said to be ‘very sore and in a world of pain,’ according to Us Weekly. 

It was also said that seeing her run back into Ben’s arms felt like a ‘kick in the teeth,’ for the former New York Yankee.  

‘It’s the first time anyone can remember him being dumped like this, at least publicly. Seeing her running straight back to Ben’s arms is a real kick in the teeth,’ the insider adds.

‘There’s a part of him that still clings onto the hope that they’ll wind up together again but deep down he’s had to accept the harsh truth that she’s over him and moving on with Ben.’  

The businessman was said to be hoping for a reconciliation while trying to accept the ‘harsh truth,’ though eagle eyed fans continued to think he was holding out hope after he posted a photo of his dinner table with extra place settings.  

A-Rod and JLo, 51, were together for four years and were engaged for two of them after he popped the question with a $1.8M ring  — which she still retains ownership of. 

She was seen wearing it in JLo Beauty ad she posted to her Instagram just three days ago, prompting many questions from fans, but a source had said that JLo had felt ‘at peace’ with her decision to call it quits on the relationship. 

‘It’s a tough pill to swallow but that’s his new reality,’ the source added of Rodriguez’s sentiments at the time.

 Following allegations of infidelity and time apart, the pair released a statement in mid-April that said they were ‘better off as friends,’ despite his previous attempts to go ‘above and beyond’ with grand gestures in the hopes of keeping the relationship.  

Later the same month it was being reported that Lopez and Affleck were spending time together in Los Angeles.

Earlier this month, DailyMail.com obtained exclusive pictures of the pair, snapped together for the first time 17 years after their split, during a romantic getaway to Big Sky, Montana.  

When asked about his ex’s trip, ARod simply responded, ‘Go Yankees.’ 

Meanwhile, Lopez has reportedly flown back to LA to spend more time with on-again beau Affleck, 48, as the former supercouple are ‘committed’ to making things work.

They were said to have reunited again earlier this week, and in early May they both made an appearance at the Global Citizen VAX LIVE Concert. 

On Thursday, a source told PEOPLE that Lopez had returned to LA to spend more time with Affleck reuniting once again earlier this week.

‘Jennifer was just in Los Angeles for a couple of days,’ a source told the publication. ‘She spent time with Ben. They have kept in touch every day since their Montana trip.’

The source went on to claim the pair are navigating a long-distance relationship, saying: ‘It’s a tricky situation since they live so far from each other, but they both seem committed to making things work.’ 

The Waiting For Tonight singer is said to be happy about the reunion, with the source adding: ‘Jennifer is doing well. She seems very happy and excited about her future.’

According to TMZ, the actor reached out to J-Lo via email while she was in the Dominican Republic earlier this year, with the pair continuing communications over the coming month. 

The publication claims Ben penned an email to Jen about ‘how beautiful she looked’ while filming the movie, after pictures emerged of her shooting wedding scenes with her co-star Josh Duhamel. 

He is also reported to have said he wished he could have been in the Dominican Republic too, but was filming The Tender Bar in Boston with George Clooney. The pair are said to have continued communicating until Jennifer wrapped up filming in late April. 

The publication claim Ben wrote in one of him emails about being able to ‘own J-Lo’s heart’ with his pen after she gushed about his writing.

There is no suggestion the pair were romantically linked at this time. Lopez was still engaged Rodriguez. 

Last month they announced they had split, with a joint statement.

‘We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so. We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other and one another’s children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support.’ 

Lopez is mom to 13-year-old twins Emme and Max and Rodriguez has daughters, Natasha, 16, and Ella, 12.

Meanwhile, Affleck split from girlfriend Ana de Armas, 33, earlier this year after one year of dating.
