Amy Schumer’s husband Chris Fischer makes her a hilarious 40th birthday cake saying he’s ‘leaving’ her: ‘This was the only way I could think to do it’
Amy Schumer’s husband Chris Fischer revealed that he has a sense of humor nearly as dark as his wife’s when he presented her with a hysterically funny cake for her 40th birthday.
The comedian, whose birthday is on Tuesday, looked excited to be surrounded by family as her chef husband strolled out with her chocolate cake in a video she posted to Instagram on Monday.
But her expression took a downturn when she saw the message Chris wrote announce he was ‘leaving’ her.
Got ya! Amy Schumer played along after her husband Chris Fischer, 41, presented her with a birthday cake for her 40th birthday that said he was ‘leaving’ her
Amy was dressed casually for her party at her home in Martha’s Vineyard with a gray sweatshirt, though she made the odd choice of wearing large Gucci sunglasses indoors.
She tied her blond hair in a loose bun and had her son Gene sitting on her lap.
Chris, a winner of the prestigious James Beard Award, appeared to have made Amy a cake himself and slowly shuffled over to the table to present it while wearing his own mismatched set of sweats.
Amy beamed ear-to-ear as her family sang Happy Birthday, but her face dropped and she showed off an impressive deadpan as she read the humorous cake.

Playing it straight: ‘I’m leaving you,’ Chris wrote on the chocolate cake. ‘This was the only way I could think to do it.’ Amy maintained an admirable deadpan look to the end of the video
‘I’m leaving you,’ Chris had written atop the sprinkles-covered chocolate cake, which was also decorated with frosted flowers and a single candle.
‘This was the only way I could think to do it,’ he added to cap off the darkly comic sweet treat.
‘My [birthday cake emoji] #40,’ Amy simply captioned the video.

Happy family: Amy and Chris were first linked in 2017 and married the following year. They welcomed their first child, Gene, in May 2019
Amy and Chris were first linked in 2017, and the couple were married during a February 2018 ceremony in Malibu.
In October of that year they announced they were expecting their first child, and Amy welcomed Gene David on May 5, 2019.
Their son’s middle name was originally ‘Attell,’ after Amy’s comedian friend Dave Attell, but they switched it to adopt his first name after realizing ‘Gene Attell’ sounded dangerously close to ‘genital.’
In March of 2019, the couple announced that Chris had been diagnosed on the high-functioning end of the autism spectrum.
‘Once he was diagnosed, it dawned on me how funny it was, because all of the characteristics that make it clear that he’s on the spectrum are all of the reasons that I fell madly in love with him,’ the comedian said in her 2019 Netflix special Growing.
Having a laugh: On Sunday, Amy joked on Instagram that John Krasinski and Emily Blunt had a sham marriage ‘for publicity’ after seeing and liking A Quiet Place Part II; seen in 2019
Earlier on Sunday, Amy poked fun at A Quiet Place Part II star Emily Blunt and her husband John Krasinski, who wrote and directed the film and has a cameo in it.
”I loved every second of @aquietplacemovie! even better than the first one which blew me away. Amazing to be in a movie theater!!’ she wrote in a post that has since been deleted.
She slipped in a quick joke about the A-list couple having a sham marriage before ending her message.
‘I’ve said for a long time I think Emily and John have a pretend marriage for publicity. But I still think you should see it this rainy weekend.’
Krasinski, 41, took the joke in stride and jumped into the comment.
‘Thank you Amy!… for blowing up our whole marriage spot,’ he joked.
