Oh! Countdown hosts Anne Robinson and Rachel Riley were left mouths agape on Wednesday’s instalment of the quiz show when the losing contestant moaned about the contents of his goodie bag
‘About 13 points behind,’ he answered.
‘You’ve been a great sport, we wish you every luck in your career,’ Anne said. ‘You do get a bag of goodies to go home with.’
‘I’m very excited about that,’ he said, deadpan, of the bag containing a clock, an Oxford English dictionary, a mug, a pen and lexicographer Susie Dent’s book.
‘You don’t look too excited,’ Anne observed, playfully.

Unimpressed? Rachel commented that Adele appeared to be ‘more focused on the game’ than Gary, hence why she beat him
‘Well – two books and a cup – it’s like something I’d get from my nan!’ Gary quipped.
‘Okay, thank you, bye bye Gary,’ Anne said, dismissively, the camera showing maths whiz Rachel staring on uncertainly.
Rachel then commented that Adele appeared to be ‘more focused on the game’ than Gary, hence why she beat him.
One viewer remarked on Twitter that Gary ‘may have been trying to *out-Anne* Anne at the end there, but he ended up coming across as a right miserable t**t!’

Teaming a plunging red dress with a matching cardigan, the Maths whizz, 35, offered a lesson in maternity dressing as she went about her day.
Rachel opted for comfort in a pair of white sandals, making sure all eyes were on her bold floral frock.

Carrying her belongings in a stylish rucksack, Rachel was still sporting a full face of glam when she left work.
A day earlier, the soon-to-be mother-of-two was joined by her husband Pasha Kovalev, 41, and their daughter Maven, one, as she left work.
The couple looked happy as they playfully swung Maven in the air as they strolled down the street.
Rachel and Pasha announced they were expecting their second child together in April this year.
