Beyonce baffles concert-goers by using an AUTOCUE on her tour

Beyonce baffles concert-goers by using an AUTOCUE on her Renaissance Tour in case she ‘forgets her lyrics’

She spent months rehearsing behind closed doors for her critically-acclaimed Renaissance world tour.

But when it comes to singing the lyrics to her chart-topping hits, Beyonce appears to be so nervous that she has enlisted in the help of an autocue.

The pop superstar – who is nicknamed Queen Bey – stunned fans at her UK concerts with the large screen which faces the stage and is emblazoned with the words written in a large font to the 40 songs that she sings during the two-and-a-half hour long gigs.

Placed far enough back to it doesn’t attract too much attention and situated amongst the busy crowds, it is in her direct eye line so she can see it while dancing on the stage.

While much older singers occasionally use them, Beyonce – whose full name is Beyonce Knowles – has stunned her fans because she is just 41.

Really? Beyonce has baffled concert-goers by enlisting the help of a large autocue while performing on her Renaissance tour, in case she forgets her lyrics

Wow! The singer spent months rehearsing behind closed doors for her critically-acclaimed Renaissance World Tour

One onlooker at her recent concerts at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in North London said: ‘Why would Beyonce need to be reminded of the lyrics to her songs?

‘She has written a lot of them, I have never seen anything like it before.’

However, sources close to Beyonce, who will appear tonight in Hamburg, Germany as part of her 57-date tour, say that it is there to avoid any ‘slip ups.’

One said: ‘She has a lot of dance moves to remember as well as the words to the songs.’

Autocues, or teleprompters as they are known within the music industry, have been previously used by much older performers such as Bruce Springsteen, 73, Tom Petty, 66, and Paul McCartney, 81.

American rock band Aerosmith, which is fronted by Steve Tyler, 75, has also been reported to have used one.

However, her routines have also come under scrutiny, with some of her loyal fans saying her moves were not as slick as usual. They claimed that she was recovering from an injury – four months after rumours circulated that she underwent secret foot surgery.

Despite this, the tour has been a triumph for the mother-of-three, who is married to rap star Jay-Z.

She also performs in a series of glittering catsuits and striking metallic corsets by a string of luxury brands and designers such as Gucci, Fendi and David Koma.

The tour, in which she sings some of her best known songs including Crazy In Love, Dangerously In Love and Cuff It, began in Stockholm in May before heading to the UK shortly afterwards with gigs in Cardiff, Edinburgh, Sunderland and London.
