Brian May fumes he’s been ‘let down so badly’ in apology to fans over show

Brian May has apologised to fans for a technical issue which occured during his talk last night.

The Queen star attended the Natural History Museum to launch his and Professor Dante Lauretta’s new book Bennu 3-D: Anatomy of an Asteriod.

An advert ahead of the gig told fans they could stream via a live link and watch the pair discuss their venture for £5, however many were not sent the link in time or at all.

Addressing the issue on his Instagram page, the rockstar, 76, said: “We had a great night here – but we’re all massively disappointed that many of you folks didn’t get your links to the live performance.”

The musician went on to tell fans that refunds would be given to those who experienced the issue but also gave them the opportunity to watch the recording again with a new link.

“I know it’s a poor substitute,” he added. “But I’m assured that the SAME link will NOW show the complete recording of the show we just did – on YouTube on that private link. Let me know if this works for you.”

Concluding the post, Brian apologised again and said the ticketing team had “let us all down so badly”.

Fans who did manage to get through on the link expresssed their love for the show in the comments section.

“It was a great, informative lecture. Well done and Congratulations again xx,” Mary F wrote.

Shoko commented: “Thank you Sir for lovely talk. I’m grateful that mine has been received.”

Others who didn’t manage to get through expressed their disappointed, but were pleased to learn they could re-watch the now pre-recorded talk again.

Bennu 3D: Anatomy of an Asteroid, published by his Stereoscopic Company, is described as the first-ever 3D atlas of an asteroid.

As per the synopsis for the book, it aims to tell the story of the fascinating space rock to non-specialist audiences.

Brian, who holds a PhD in astronomy, previously worked with the science teams behind Europe’s Rosetta probe and NASA’s New Horizons mission.

In 2019, he also joined the OSIRIS-REx team and used his skills in stereoscopic imaging to process data and create 3D images of Bennu’s surface.

He is however best known for his worldwide fame with rockband Queen.

In his most recent Instagram post, Brian announced the band and Adam Lambert will be touring Japan next year.

Alongside Roger Taylor, he said in a statement: “We are so excited to be returning to Japan… We promise to bring a very real spectacular!

“This may be the last time… who knows?”
