Britney Spears calls out mom Lynne in scathing post where she reflects on similarities between absent mothers in her classic 2002 Crossroads movie
Britney Spears didn’t mince words when she reflected on the uncanny similarities between her role as a motherless teenager growing up in the south in the 2002 classic film Crossroads.
The 40-year-old singer took to Instagram with a scathing post aimed at her mom, Lynne Spears, with a 53-second clip from the movie Britney did ‘a ways back,’ which recently celebrated its 20-year anniversary.
‘When I realized my whole journey to find my mom … and she doesn’t want to see me !!!,’ Britney wrote. ‘I know … PRETTY F****NG SAD !!!’ I mean … Psss I mean it’s actually less worse than what my mom did to me in real life so.’

Spears was finally freed from the conservatorship on Nov. 12 that had been in place since 2008 where her dad, Jamie Spears controlled nearly every aspect of her life, including her financial matters, following multiple mental health breakdowns beginning in 2007.
Britney starred in the coming-of-age flick alongside Zoe Saldana, Taryn Manning, Justin Long, Dan Aykroyd and Beverly Johnson, which was directed by Tamra Davis and written by Shonda Rhimes.
‘Really, I’m OK,’ her character, Lucy, told Ben (played by Anson Mount) who found her crying on the bathroom floor after a traumatic day where Lucy found her birth mother (Kim Cattrall) who wanted nothing to do with her.

Her pain helped Ben turn one of Lucy’s poems into a classic song from the film and one of Britney’s most memorable hits, I’m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman.
Davis recently told Variety that she could see Spears was at the breaking point juggling incredible success as a pop princess and her very first movie role, all at the very young age of 19.

‘Very soon after the film came out, her life kind of came crashing [down],’ Davis said. She and Justin [Timberlake], and then her mom and dad broke up. Things just started to fall apart around her.’
Davis said she was not allowed to contact Spears after Crossroads was released, and a few years later, Britney suffered her first public breakdown.
‘It just broke my heart to see her reduced down to what happened to her,’ Davis said.
The Piece of Me singer might be ‘free’ but her legal battle against her father Jamie is far from over as her lawyer Mathew Rosengart alleged he and his team gradually took $36M from her $60M estate.
The former federal prosecutor has been arranging for depositions to take place this month with his famous client as well as the 69-year-old former building contractor.
