Australian beauty Cate, 53, certainly caught the eye as she donned a black velvet jumpsuit adorned with an elaborate floral trim as she led the glamour at the screening alongside her fellow Hollywood star.

Meanwhile, Julianne, 61, who is the president of this year’s jury, took the plunge in a daring black velvet gown which featured a very low neckline as she posed for snaps at the glitzy event.

Cate looked radiant in her garden-inspired ensemble which featured a colourful display exotic flowers and foliage that framed her décolletage.

The actress, who stars in the Todd Field directed Tár allowed her outfit to do the talking with minimal accessorised save for a gold ring and simple diamond earrings.

She highlighted her striking features with blush make-up, while her cropped blonde locks were swept into a side parting. 

Julianne oozed confidence as she strutted her stuff on the carpet in her cleavage-baring number, which she teamed with an embellished silver necklace and equally dazzling silver earrings.

Ensuring her dress was the star of the show, the beauty kept her make-up look to a minimum, while her auburn tresses were styled in a simple side-parting. 

Filmed in Berlin last year, the plot follows Cate Blanchett’s character, Lydia Tár, as she rises to become the first-ever female conductor of a German orchestra.

The trailer hints the film, directed by Todd Field, will deal with themes of power and madness. 

This is only the third film Field has made and his first since 2007’s Little Children. Despite his limited output, Field’s movies have been nominated for eight Oscars.

This year’s line up will see divisive biopic Blonde, starring Ana De Armas as tragic screen icon Marilyn Monroe, battle it out for the competition’s top accolade.

Brendan Fraser’s moving drama The Whale, where he plays an obese professor, will also compete alongside films starring Cate Blanchett, Hugh Jackman and Colin Farrell.
