Chris Moyles signed up for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! to prove he’s not a ‘bolshie gobs****.’
The former Radio One DJ, 48, earned himself a reputation for outspoken comments during his time on the airwaves, which has often landed himself in trouble.
But he hopes ITV viewers will get to see the ‘real me’ during his stint on the series, which he says is nothing like his brash radio persona.
Plus, he’s aiming to attract more listeners to his Radio X show, revealing many of his large following from his Radio One days are unaware he’s still working.

Speaking ahead of his jungle debut, Chris said: ‘All my friends have said ‘This is great, people will get to know the real you’ but I am the real me and they say ‘Yes but as opposed to’ – so I’m not sure what people are expecting.
‘People that don’t like me will just expect me to go in there and be a bolshie gobs**** but hopefully my listeners will know that I’m not really like that.
‘I won’t always be the loudest in the camp, there will be personalities in there louder than me, and it’s not in my DNA to keep up with that, I’ll happily sit in the corner and sit and watch and come up with a funnier side once the dust has settled.
‘If we can get more people listening to the show, then that’ll be great because I do get a listener’s bonus if it goes up.’

Chris is Radio One’s longest serving breakfast show host, having held the iconic position for eight years between 2004 and 2012.
At its peak, his show attracted seven million listeners, which dropped off spectacularly when he was replaced by Nick Grimshaw after Radio One bosses wanted a younger host to fit with their youth audience.
After taking a three-year break from the airwaves, Chris returned to Global station Radio X – once again hosting the breakfast show – but his audience figures pale in comparison to his former gig.
He’s honest enough to admit he’s using I’m A Celeb as a vehicle to attract more listeners.
Chris explained: ‘The main reason I’m doing it – hands up, I’ll be perfectly honest, is to get more people to listen to my radio show, which is what I do every day and it’s what I love to do and have been doing for seven years.
‘But there are still people I see in restaurants or bars, and they go ‘I used to love your show, what are you doing these days?’ And I say, ‘I’m still doing a radio show – you don’t even have to tune a dial anymore; you just need to speak out loud and tell your device what you’re listening to.’
‘The radio show is the main reason why I’m doing it – trying to get more people to listen and convince a few more people that maybe didn’t like me back in the day that I might be more of their cup of tea these days.
‘I have no balance so I can’t skate or dance and let’s not kid ourselves, I wouldn’t be sat here if it wasn’t for the fact, I’m too old for Love Island.’

Chris, who is currently in a long-term relationship with Tiffany Austin who works in artist management, has been a longterm target of hosts Ant and Dec.
He’s a huge fan of the show but is terrified of being voted out first, admitting it would be his ultimate humiliation.
Chris has also warned viewers about his potty mouth, revealing he’s used to not swearing on his radio shows, but out of the studio it’s a different story.
He said: ‘My biggest concern is the fact that in real life I swear a lot.
‘I really enjoy swearing and I think swearing done properly and in the right context with the right word can be really funny.

‘It is something that we’re not allowed to do on the radio so there’s a switch, which goes on subconsciously on the radio that I don’t swear like when you’re meeting your girlfriends’ parents for the first time – you just don’t.
‘But in real life I do and that’s my only worry that I might be a bit sweary, especially if I’m a bit scared and hanging by my ankles over alligators there’s a very good chance.
‘You know there’s that moment before a trial when the boys go ‘how are you feeling?’ and I’ll be hanging from my testicles over alligators with their mouths wide open and they’ll go ‘how you feeling?’
‘I think it’s going to be beep, beep, beep. I apologise to everyone in advance.’
Despite knowing many famous faces who’ve entered the jungle, Chris says he’s only sought the advice of one ex-campmate, his pal and fellow DJ Vernon Kay, who gave him a handy tip about appropriate pants.
He added: ‘Vernon gave me some advice to do with underwear, I won’t share it, but he did call me and say I’ll have a great time and absolutely love it and gave me tips on eating kangaroo testicles, he said ‘just shove it in.’
