‘It’s been a testing time’: Christine McGuinness says lockdown has been tough for her family… and admits she and husband Paddy both ‘wanted to run a million miles’

Christine McGuiness has claimed lockdown has been ‘the most testing time’ for her family amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The model, 32, spoke candidly on Wednesday about how life in quarantine has been with husband Paddy, and their kids twin brother and sister Leo and Penelope, seven, and daughter Felicity, four.

Speaking to the Daily Star, she admitted: ‘It’s been a really testing time, probably the most testing time we have ever been through as a family.

‘It’s quite common with autism for them to show regression when things change and they are going through a lot of change at the minute.

‘Their speech has suffered, it’s not as good as it was. The eye contact, trying to get their engagement in any kind of activity has been more difficult.’

Christine went on to add that although she’s had ‘amazing’ moments while spending more time with husband Paddy in lockdown, she said there were times when they ‘both just wanted to run a million miles.’

Last week, Christine celebrated her twins’ seventh birthday as she took to Instagram to share a sweet video montage. 

The model posted a throwback bikini bump snap of herself when she was pregnant with Leo and Penelope alongside a number of nostalgic photos from their childhood. 

Christine is married to Top Gear host Paddy, 46, and is mum to the twins and three-year-old Felicity. All of their children have been diagnosed with Autism.

The Real Housewives of Cheshire star wrote: ‘Happy 7th birthday to my beautiful twins Leo & Penelope my superstars.

‘They have barely spent a moment apart since the day they were born, I’m so thankful they have each other. I am truly blessed to be their mummy.

‘Feeling unconditional love is magical. They made me a mummy, they made us a family and I am beyond proud. ⠀ 

‘I LOVE YOU to the moon and back forever and always my babies you are everything to me.’
