Hayley Tamaddon, 42, who starred as Andrea Beckett in the ITV soap Coronation Street, has hinted at a possible reprisal of her role as she admitted it “holds a special place in my heart”. Her character appeared in the soap in 2013 as the friend of Steve McDonald (played by Simon Gregson) and the rival of Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh), before she exited two years later. Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, the actress spilled she would certainly consider a comeback if she was given the opportunity to return. Hayley said: “If there is a chance to go back, I’m able to go back and they want me to go back then yeah, why not.
If there is a chance to go back
“I’ve not stopped working since leaving Corrie.”
She continued: “So far there’s not even be an opportunity to even think of going back but if I wanted to go back at any point and they wanted to have me, then I’m sure that conversation will be had in the future.”
The soap star, who also appeared in Emmerdale, admitted she does not have a preference towards either show but Coronation Street is “special” to her.
The actress divulged: “I did not have a preference. They were both at different times in my life.
“Emmerdale, I was young, late twenties. When I got into Corrie I was late thirties.”
She added: “It’s a huge difference for me in terms of where I was in my life career and the amount I’d done between Emmerdale and Corrie.
“You know Corrie I think holds a special place in my heart because I was older. I’ve got a lot of friends on the show and I live so close to the studios as well.”
Character Andrea bowed out of Weatherfield in 2015 but thankfully her character was not killed off leaving the door open for a possible return.
Meanwhile, the actress has been keeping herself busy and has featured in new film Eaten by Lions.
The British comedy follows the story of two half-brothers Pete and Omar, whose parents are eaten by lions and the pair subsequently embark on a journey to Blackpool in search of the latter’s estranged father.
Speaking about the new film, Hayley said: “This is the first film I’ve done. But I love the British aspect of it. The fact it’s multicultural and tells an amazing story. It’s very, very funny.
“Just watching audience responses, was just phenomenal. That’s the best bit. It’s two hours of escapism. You kind of just get lost in this extremely funny film. From the start, it’s like, ‘Oh my God, it’s brilliant’ to moments of warmth, love and honesty. I’m thrilled to be a prat of it.”
The film also stars Johnny Vegas and Hayley spilled on the comedian, saying: “He’s hilarious. He just doesn’t stop making people laugh.
“I didn’t actually have to work with him on set but the other guys said they took so long to do one scene because Johnny was making everybody laugh. And I got to hang out with him a few times through the filming breaks. He is just a cool guy.”
Coronation Street continues tonight on ITV at 7.30pm.
Eaten By Lions will be released in UK cinemas on Friday.
