Dan Walker, 43, blasted Good Morning Britain a “pound shop Gogglebox” amid a vicious row with ITV host Piers Morgan, 54, over government minister interviews. It comes after Piers told Dan that he “blew it” while talking to Health Secretary Matt Hancock about the latest coronavirus figures and response on Tuesday morning.
As Dan put all the angst aside, he addressed the loyal BBC Breakfast viewers and teased who would be appearing on this morning’s show.
Taking to Twitter, he revealed business minister Alok Sharma would be appearing to which Piers found hilarious.
“Sharma… This will be fun. You warm him up with your Govt-approved soft b***s Daniel & we’ll follow up on @GMB with the real questions,” he snapped.
It wasn’t long before Dan piped up and fired back with an insult comparing the rival breakfast show to the Channel 4 reality TV show: “You keep up your pound shop political Googlebox and try not to let all those toys fall out of the pram at once. See you nice and early,” he mocked.
The two hosts have long been involved in an online battle, where Dan constantly fights back when Piers critiques the rival breakfast show.
Usually their bitter spats stem from their respective viewing ratings, where BBC Breakfast tops the charts every time.

So, on Tuesday when Dan was interviewing Mr Hancock about the all important coronavirus testing figures – which haven’t been released to the public for the past 39 days – Piers was left dumbfounded.
GMB is currently being boycotted by government ministers, who as Piers believes, are “too scared” to come on the show and face him.
Instead, they are appearing on other news outlets such as ITV’s rival BBC Breakfast.
On Monday, Dan jokingly suggested Piers show BBC interviews with the government on GMB for their viewers to watch considering they are not getting any interviews from ministers themselves.
But it seems there ITV host took on the idea, as a clip of the Health Secretary’s response was shown to GMB’s viewers yesterday morning.
The clip showed Dan struggling to get a word in edge ways and before long the shot returned to Piers and Susanna Reid, who provided commentary (and critique) on the interview.
The ITV host has never been one to hold his tongue and this morning he really let himself go – lets face it, we all knew he wasn’t going to give Dan a pat on the back!
“Get in there Walker, for goodness sake man. He’s talking complete nonsense,” Piers exclaimed.
Susanna looked taken aback as she jumped in: “Oh my goodness. Now you’re ranting at presenters on other programmes.”
He continued: “Because he’s [Walker] getting the interviews because he won’t jump in and say, ‘What are you talking about Health Secretary?’
“What could be a more important bit of data than how many people are being tested? What could possibly be more important?
“And yet you pretend it’s meaningless,” he continued as his rant turned on towards the politician and his lack of explanation.
And as soon as both shows came off-air, they moved their bitter tango back online as Dan shared his response to Piers’ outburst in view of his 662,100 followers.

“It is essential that politicians are allowed to speak. The idea (from some) that we, and others, don’t challenge ministers is completely untrue,” he snapped.
“Important to ask questions. Important to press. Important to let you listen. Thanks for watching #BBCBreakfast.
Piers was quick to fire back with a short and simple reply: “Mate, you blew it. Calm down.”
And as their bickering picked up traction, it didn’t stop there.
Dan hit back laughing: “Morning, good to see you were watching #BBCBreakfast today… again. Maybe, if you didn’t make every interview about you, you might get a few decent political guests.”

“You get them because they know they’ll get an [easy] ride as we sadly saw today…” Piers retorted, as the pair are often compared to each other for their interviewing style.
Dan has a reputation of being a “mild-mannered” presenter whereas his ITV nemesis is quite the opposite.
There’s nothing wrong with being either, but some viewers prefer certain attributes to others.
And as this feud between them will likely never end until one of them retires, fans should prepare themselves for more to come.
BBC Breakfast continues weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
