Dancing on Ice first look sees Ekin-Su fall and Joey Essex ask for partner’s number

Dancing on Ice has released a first look at the upcoming series, just days before the new show kicks off with a bang.

Dancing on Ice fans are eagerly awaiting the new series, which is set to air on January 15, after Regan Gascoigne beat out the likes of Brendan Cole, Liberty Poole, Kimberly Wyatt and Ben Foden for the crown last year.

On Wednesday, Dancing on Ice released a clip from episode one that began with EastEnders’ Patsy Palmer, 50, gushing over the show and admitting: “It’s harder than it looks.”

In the next shot, she can be seen rocking her signature fiery locks while doing a spin with her partner Matt Evers.

The video then moves to 60 year old former professional footballer John Fashanu who said that: “Out of all the sport’s I’ve done, this is the hardest ever.”

Love Island’s Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, who insisted she was going to win, was next to make an appearance and could be seen taking a few tumbles as she navigated the ice with Brendyn Hatfield.

Liberty X’s Michelle Heaton, 43, looked as gorgeous as ever as she span around, while comedian Darren Harriott jokingly said that the ice is “slippery.”

Next up was Coronation Street actress Mollie Gallagher, who said she: “grew up watching Dancing on Ice with my mum, so she’s excited to be matching me on it this time.”

The Wanted’s Siva Kaneswaran, who said that the late Tom Parker helped him face his fears, looked dashing in his black suit as he did his best “dad dancing” and said: “I would never have imagined I would be on Dancing on Ice.”

Artistic gymnast Nile Wilson, who won bronze at the 2016 Summer Olympics, said: “It’s right up my street, learning a new school and begging competitive again. I’m just going to give it my absolute everything and see how far we go.”

Hollyoaks’ Steph Cunningham actress Carley Stenson bravely admitted that being on Dancing on Ice “definitely beats childbirth.”

The Vivienne, real name James Lee Williams, proudly said she was the first drag queen on the show ever and referred to her impressive grey wig as her “crash helmet.”

Last but certainly not least was Joey Essex, who fans have already romantically linked to his partner Vanessa Bauer.

“I just know that now is my time,” he told the camera before asking for her number.

He asks Vanessa: "How do we keep in touch? Can I get your number?"

This year, the star-studded judging panel is comprised of Strictly Come Dancing professional Oti Mabuse, former Olympic skating champions Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, and Diversity frontman Ashley Banjo.

Michelle Heaton, Joey Essex, Patsy Palmer, Nile Wilson, Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Siva Kaneswaran will all be competing in week one.

Meanwhile, competing during week two are Darren Harriott, Mollie Gallagher, The Vivienne, John Fashanu, and Carley Stenson.
