Parenting brings many fun — and funny — adventures. It isn’t always easy, but the hilarious moments make up for the tougher times. You know those moments: gum in the hair, a toilet clogged with dinosaurs, a face full of makeup, crayons on the wall, and the various random things kids say.
Those things they say and do can often leave parents ducking in embarrassment when they’re done in public, but parents who’ve learned how to deal with these common milestone moments are on top of their game. Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell are definitely in this category, as they are one of Hollywood’s favorite funny couples, and they’ve been through some hilarious moment with their two girls.
Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell make the best couple
Shepard and Bell are both comedic actors. They met at a birthday party in 2007, and Shepard was at first a bit freaked out by how upbeat Bell always seemed to be.
He had never met anyone that could be that upbeat all the time, but he eventually gave in to her charms. Five years later, they would marry. They bring humor, honesty, and marriage counseling into their marriage to make it work, and it seems to be doing the trick.
Shepard and Bell have two daughters, Lincoln and Delta, and take their privacy very seriously. While they are open about their family, their struggles, and other aspects of their lives, they also make sure only to post pictures where their girls’ faces aren’t showing.
Shepard and Bell work to give them a normal life, but they also are pretty laid back when it comes to parenting. They have been known to run their household with complete honesty, even when the topics may seem too adult for children to handle. If their kids ask, they’ll give a real answer.
The parenting milestone Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell overcame
When you think of parenting milestones, things like the first haircut, sitting up for the first time or learning to walk all come to mind. Or maybe things like a first car, going to prom or getting into college.
But Shepard and Bell just dealt with one parenting milestone that would have some parents cringing because they don’t know how to handle it. Of course, with Shepard and Bell, you know the funny came out, especially since this milestone had to do with the middle finger.
Bell said she’s waited for this moment since she became a parent, and she posted a video of Shepard talking to one of their daughters off camera about what the middle finger means. She praised her husband for how he handled the situation.
In the video, you can hear Shepard talk to her about how he’s proud of her for not using the finger like the classmate she saw doing it did, and that yes, it did mean what he said it did. He made sure she knew it wasn’t a good word or gesture, too.

First emergency room visit. One hairline fracture and a finger smushed so hard in the door it popped like a jelly donut. Thank you so much to @childrensla for the amazing care, thank u Dr. Olsen, and Sonia our child life specialist. Did you know that when you enter the emergency room at @childrensla you immediately get a "Child Life Specialist" trained to make sure your child knows what happening? And to make sure you understand all of what's happening and your choices? It made us feel so safe. And @childrensla follows up the next day with a phone call to make sure all is well after the trauma. Excellent care all around. Thank you to all who helped my baby. (Ps I'm not attaching a pic of the finger because there was literally burger popping out all over and it as pretty gross.)
The honest parenting methods they use aren’t the only thing they’re known for. Shepard has given Bell advice on how to handle tantrums, saying: ‘Just treat them like the hot girl in school’ because if you ignore them, they’ll come to you.”
They also know that kids will be kids, so they take the less fun kid moments with a grain of salt. It’s odd and random things like this that give them a parenting edge. They’re both incredibly hands-on parents and split the responsibilities so that each can still have their careers.
They’re also known to tag-team a lot so that when they get frustrated or can’t handle the kid they’re parenting at the moment, they switch. These methods have certainly made for a pretty normal family, at least by Hollywood’s standards.
