‘It’s derogatory!’ Demi Lovato claims the term ‘alien’ is offensive to extraterrestrials and says they should be called ‘ETs’ instead

Demi Lovato has declared that the term ‘alien’ is offensive to extraterrestrials.

Lovato – who came out as non-binary in May and uses them/they pronouns – claims it is a ‘derogatory term’ and that ‘ETs’ should be used instead, according to an interview with PEDESTRIANtv.

‘I think that we have to stop calling them aliens because aliens is a derogatory term for anything,’ Lovato said. ‘That’s why I like to call them ETs! So yeah, that’s a little tidbit. A little information that I learned.’

However, it is unclear where Lovato gleaned the ‘little information’ from.

The star is currently promoting their new show Unidentified with Demi Lovato where the singer takes a road trip in search for UFO in this Peacock Original series.

However, Lovato might want to speak to bosses at Peacock, as in the official description of the show they are referred to as aliens.

The editor of the interview even put in a note, stating ‘As per Demi’s guidance, we have refrained from using the A-word in this article as it’s an offensive term, no matter who you’re directing it at.’

Lovato brought up the term being being offensive when asked what some of the biggest misconceptions about aliens are.

The singer replied: ‘I think the ones that bother me are that they’re harmful or that they’ll come and take over the planet.’

They also appeared on The Kyle and Jackie O Show last month, to speak about their new four-part docuseries.

During the interview, radio host Kyle Sandilands asked Demi for their thoughts on what extraterrestrial life might be like, to which they responded: ‘I believe that they’re peaceful beings.’

‘I know that they would be friendly. Well, I don’t know that,’ they giggled.

‘I have this belief that anything that has the ability to transcend dimensions. You have to have a level of consciousness that exceeds anything that we know down here on earth.’

Kyle also went on a tangent about forming a romantic relationship with an alien, saying: ‘I dared say the other day to Jackie [‘O’ Henderson, his co-host], “Would you have sex with an alien?” I would totally get with a female alien, if she was up for it!’

Jackie said she would have to ‘get to know’ the alien beforehand, before asking Demi if they would ever do so – much to the amusement of Kyle.
