Demi, who was 40 when they met, found herself competing for Ashton’s attention with much younger women, as he was only 25 when their romance blossomed in 2003.

She continued: ‘Occasionally you walk away with one friend – or maybe two – that you’re really close to and they’re like mini-marriages. If I don’t see someone for 20 years and I see them it’s as if no time has gone by.

‘You wonder, ‘Why did I let so much time go by when we have such a lovely connection?’

In her 2019 memoir Inside Out she wrote: ‘I put him first, so when he expressed his fantasy of bringing a third person into our bed I didn’t say no.

‘I wanted to show him how great and fun I could be. They were good people but it was still a mistake.

‘I was flooded with shame. I couldn’t shake the feeling that this whole thing was somehow my fault.’

Speaking about turning 60, Demi recently told People she feels more ‘alive and present’ than ever before.

She said: ‘You hit 59 and you’re already thinking, ‘Well, I’m going to be 60.’ It feels very liberating.

‘When I think of my grandmother at 60, she in a way seemed to be already resigned to being old. But I feel, in so many ways, more alive and present than ever,’ shared the Brave New World actress.

‘It’s changing this idea that women become less desirable as we get older,’ the movie goddess told the site. ‘We don’t want to look matronly or not feel sexy.’

The A Few Good Men star commented on her age in 2019, when she spoke to The Mirror saying ‘gravity is going in some directions I’m not fond of.’

‘But I feel for myself it’s about acceptance…embracing it and no longer looking for what’s wrong – just being accepting of everything,’ Demi said.

‘My friend put up a quote, ‘My skin no longer fits the same but my life does.’ I feel like that’s true. The reality is, the comfort I feel in my skin is the greatest gift. I’m really happy to be where I am.’

Moore not only acts and writes (her book Inside Out was a bestseller) but she also has three kids: daughters Rumer, 33, Scout, 31, and Tallulah, 28.
