The Queen just made it all kinds of clear that Duchess Camilla will be known as Queen Consort when Charles ascends to the throne, which means she’ll have an even more important role in his eventual coronation.
According to The Daily Mail, Charles changed his coronation vows to include the mention “Queen Camilla” several years back—with the Queen’s blessing. The outlet also reports that Camilla will wear the Queen Mother’s crown, which is decorated with 2,800 diamonds, and the 105-carat Koh-i-Noor diamond. Here’s the Queen Mother wearing it:
The Queen announced her wish for Duchess Camilla to become Queen Consort over the weekend in a statement released to mark her Jubilee, saying “When, in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes King, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support that you have given me. And it is my sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service.”
Charles responded to his mothers wishes in a statement of his own, saying “The Queen’s devotion to the welfare of all her people inspires still greater admiration with each passing year. We are deeply conscious of the honor represented by my mother’s wish. As we have sought together to serve and support Her Majesty and the people of our communities, my darling wife has been my own steadfast support throughout.”
