Earth, Wind & Fire‘s “September” recorded a sharp spike in sales and streaming on September 21 for the third straight year.
According to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, on-demand audio streams of the song rose from 340,000 on September 20 to 1,187,000 on the 21st, an increase of 249%.
In 2019, the song experienced a surge of 265% from 383,000 to 1,017,000 on September 21. In 2018, the song soared 279% from 292,000 to 1,107,000 on the date.
“September” is a song by the band Earth, Wind & Fire released as a single in 1978 on ARC/Columbia Records. The song was very successful commercially and reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot R&B Songs chart and No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Fans of the song make sure that they play the song on September 21 in celebration of the opening line, “Do you remember the 21st night of September?”
