Erika Jayne refuses to give up her $40K per month glam team despite suffering financial woes: ‘Certain things you don’t downsize on’

Despite suffering financial woes after getting embroiled in a legal battle alongside her ex-husband Tom Girardi, Erika Jayne is refusing to sacrifice her $40k per month glam team.

The embattled reality star, 50, admitted she would not give up her hair and makeup team amid her money challenges in a preview for the next episode of The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills. 

Erika, 50, defended her financial choices during a trip to Mexico with her fellow housewives, where she had brought along her hair and makeup team.

‘You can downsize and we’ve downsized, right? Certain things you don’t downsize on and that’s your glam,’ she explained in a confessional as shots of her getting her tresses combed back and lips done were shown on screen.

Interspersed throughout her admission, shots of her blonde extensions, various jewelry, and cases of makeup were shown.

Erika compared her choice to fund her lavish lifestyle with those who choose to have large families.

‘Fashion, hair, makeup – to me, it’s art. Living art, and I enjoy that. And it shouldn’t be judged any other way. Nobody judges if people wanna have big families. I wanna buy a bunch of clothes.’

In contrast, fellow housewife Crystal Kung Minkoff views the extra expense as unnecessary.

‘I don’t even want to pay for my own hotel room,’ she says. ‘I’m not trying to pay for other peoples and their flights and their food and paying them. I can just put on some lip gloss and I’m good. I would just never go out with glam, why spend the money, it’s ridiculous!’

Throughout, Crystal is shown applying her own eye shadow and lip gloss with a ‘No Glam Team’ annotation attached to her name.

In 2018, Erika admitted she spends upwards of $40,000 a month on her beauty routine. 

‘If you want to look good—it’s hair, it’s makeup, it’s wardrobe, and then those people that help facilitate that…they’re not cheap,’ Erika said on The Wendy Williams Show.

The reality star and pop singer is also known for boasting about her expensive lifestyle, particularly in the song Xxpen$ive, featuring the line: ‘It’s expensive to be me.’

With costs like that, one would think the glam team would be one of the expenses on the chopping block amid her financial challenges. 

Last year, Erika admitted on RHOBH that she was completely broke as she discussed her financial and legal challenges with Kyle Richards. 

‘I’m out here rebuilding my life but, girl, I have zero dollars,’ she said. ‘And by the time those trustees are done with [estranged husband Tom Girardi], there’ll be nothing. So, I walk out of this with nothing.’ 

Both Erika and her ex-husband have had to give up their lavish lifestyles after getting embroiled in legal controversies.  

Erika was originally named with her estranged spouse in the December 2020 class action lawsuit filed by Edelson PC, accusing them of fraud and embezzlement in connection with funds earmarked for victims of the 2018 Lion Air Flight 610 crash, in which all 189 people onboard died.

In January, she was dismissed from the ongoing lawsuit filed against against Girardi in Illinois, however, the dismissal is not necessarily a legal win for the star. The case will be re-filed in a different jurisdiction.

Tom was once worth an estimated $264million, and the pair moved out of their luxury Pasadena mansion following the scandal.

She announced in November 2020 that she and powerhouse attorney Tom had split after 21 years of marriage.

Erika’s ex-husband Girardi was accused of embezzling millions of dollars meant for the 2018 Boeing plane crash victims, and as a result, both have had to give up their lavish lifestyles
