Tough times: Tom Girardi, the estranged husband of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika Jayne, has been stripped of his license as he faces a mountain of legal battles amid their bitter divorce, as they are seen together in 2016
Girardi was placed under a temporary conservatorship last month in wake of a medical emergency he suffered in late January.
It came after the prominent consumer law attorney in Los Angeles was hit with a slew of embezzlement lawsuits accusing him of mishandling clients’ funds after he and Jayne, 49, filed for a divorce.
In documents obtained by TMZ on Wednesday, Girardi’s doctor said his ability to understand court hearings has been impaired significantly by late-onset Alzheimer’s and dementia affecting his memory, concentration, communication and logic.
The doctor said the dementia is also causing substantial emotional distress, leaving Girardi feeling ‘angry, anxious, fearful, panicked and helpless’, TMZ reported.

The outlet disclosed few details about the documents beyond that they were filed in Los Angeles court in his conservatorship case.
Girardi’s brother, Robert Girardi, warned the Los Angeles court of the 81-year-old’s deteriorating condition a few weeks ago when he requested a temporary conservatorship.
Judge Daniel Juarez granted the request on February 1 and put Robert in charge of Girardi’s estate and day-to-day care, at least until March 30.

Another hearing on the conservatorship is scheduled for March 15, where the judge will consider Robert’s request to put his brother in an assisted living facility.
Girardi made headlines in December after class action firm Edelson PC filed a lawsuit claiming that his divorce from Jayne was orchestrated to ‘fraudulently protect Tom and Erika’s money’ as they’re ‘on the verge of financial collapse’ because of another lawsuit.
In the latter lawsuit, the couple were accused of embezzling $2million in settlement funds intended for the families of victims who died in the 2018 Lion Air Flight 610 crash that killed 189.
Girardi is also facing a lawsuit from from Robert Keese, the other named partner in his law firm who claims Girardi owes him over $500,000.

The couple, who met in 2000 when she was waitressing at a club, famously flaunted their wealth on the reality TV show, with Jayne claiming she spent $40,000 a month on make-up and clothes.
After all of their assets were frozen in December by a judge overseeing the Lion Air case, Jayne publicly blamed Girardi for causing her to lose $80million in cash.
She also took to Instagram to accuse Girardi of having a months-long affair with Justice Tricia A. Bigelow, a former deputy attorney general for California who has presided over the Second District Court of Appeal, Division Eight since February 2010.
