Fans notice new Henry advert ‘takes dig at Carragher spit storm’

Football fans are convinced Sky Sports’ new Renault advert starring Thierry Henry takes an underhand "dig" at the Jamie Carragher spitting incident.

Viewers have taken to Twitter to point out the commercial apparently mocking Carragher, who was suspended by the broadcaster in March after he was filmed spitting from his Range Rover and hitting a 14-year-old girl.

The Renault advert shows Henry driving while being taunted by two teenage girls shouting from the window of a car alongside his own. Henry simply reacts by smiling and laughing.

On social media, one fan wrote: "Jamie Carragher would have spat at those girls in the Thierry Henry Megane advert."

Another added: "Watching the Thierry Henry Renault advert and my first thought was is that girl going to spit at him like Jamie Carragher!!!!!"

While a third tweeted: "Lovely dig at Jamie Carragher & his disgusting spitting incident courtesy of the Renault advert featuring Thierry Henry on Sky Sports! Best advert!!!"

Odds on FPL wrote: "Is the Thierry Henry sky advert where he is driving while people are screaming at him taking the p*** out of Jamie Carragher?"

While Jack Hawkins tweeted: "Good job they picked Thierry Henry for this advert and not Jamie Carragher."

Steve Howell added: "Is that Thierry Henry advert trolling spitty Carragher? Well played @renault_uk."

And Alan McPherson wrote: "Just saw Thierry Henry in new car advert where a young girl pulls up alongside him and rolls down her window. I bet Renault are saying thank god we didn’t hire Carragher."

A clip of the advert on Twitter, which you can see below, captured Carragher’s supposed reaction to watching it live on Sky Sports.

It shows the pundit looking on with a blank expression on his face.

Carragher was back on Sky Sports on Friday covering the first Premier League game with Gary Neville. After the spitting incident he apologised in an interview on Sky News.
