Gino D'Acampo SLAMS 'moron' parents for 'letting' children be picky

‘There’s no such thing as a fussy child’: Gino D’Acampo SLAMS ‘moron’ parents for ‘letting’ children be picky with food – and reveals he ‘sends kids to bed without dinner if they refuse meal’

Gino D’Acampo has slammed ‘moron’ parents for allowing children to become picky eaters and declared ‘there’s no such thing as a fussy child.’

The celebrity chef, 45, who shares three children with wife Jessica, told Annie O’Leary and Wendy Golledge in a podcast, that he is an extremely strict parent who will send his children to bed without dinner if they refuse to eat.

He added that he is not adverse to serving his children the previous night’s dinner for breakfast the next day so they learn the lesson.

Fury: Gino D’Acampo has slammed ‘moron’ parents for allowing children to become picky eaters and declared ‘there’s no such thing as a fussy child.

He said: ‘A child doesn’t grow up fussy. It’s not possible . It’s the parents that can’t be bothered to fight. They can’t be bothered to have the argument at the table.

‘When people talk to me about fussy children with food, there is no such thing as a fussy child – but there is a thing of moron parenting. I mean idiots.

‘They can’t be bothered to see their children go to bed without having any food. I can.’

He added: ‘I’m a very strict dad. I’m always up for a fight. I don’t care with whom, if it’s my wife, if it’s my children, if it’s my daughter, because I think the extra fight I’m having today, they pay off tomorrow.’

D’Acampo also said he would serve up the previous night’s ravioli for breakfast instead of cornflakes until his children finally ate it.

Family: The celebrity chef, 45, who shares three children with wife Jessica, told Annie O’Leary and Wendy Golledge in a podcast, that he is a strict parent who will send his children to bed without dinner if they refuse to eat (pictured with sons Luciano, 19, and Rocco, 16)

He said: ‘You only have to do it once. Of course they will eat it, because what they don’t want is to have the same ravioli at dinner time when they come back.

‘Not that I’m comparing a dog with a child, but you know it’s the same thing like when you have a little puppy.

‘You only have to tell him off and pretend to smack him a couple of times not to do the wee on the floor, and then eventually he’s not going to do a wee on the floor. He’s going to call you to go outside. It’s the same thing.’

‘You know when people say “you’ve got to pick your fights” – no, no, no, take every fight one by one. Take all of them,’ he said.

Parenting: He added that he is not adverse to serving his children the previous night’s dinner for breakfast the next day so they learn the lesson (pictured with wife Jessica, his sons and daughter Mia, nine)

‘It works for me really beautifully. You need to have at least one parent who’s in for every fight.

‘They [his children] know that I’m in for a fight so they just give up very quickly. They go “may as well say sorry”.’

The star said his ‘very strict’ parenting approach has worked, adding: ‘My son Luciano, he’s a really good man. He’s the kind of guy who works very hard, his head is in the right place, he knows what is right, and what is wrong. The other one is pretty much the same, he’s 16.’

Last month Gino revealed Gordon Ramsay will no longer be filming their TV show alongside Fred Sirieix due to work commitments in the USA.

The unlikely trio have won fans across the country with their high-jinks in ITV series Gordon, Gino and Fred’s Road Trip, but Gino devastated fans as he confirmed Gordon, 55, will no longer be a part of the show.

Sharing a snap of himself sleeping alongside Fred, 49, he wrote: ‘Unfortunately we will no longer be filming #GordonGinoandFred mainly because @gordongram is too busy working on his hair highlights in USA.

Son: The star said his ‘very strict’ parenting approach has worked, adding: ‘My son Luciano, he’s a really good man. He’s the kind of guy who works very hard’ (pictured together in 2019)

The star cheekily hinted at a new show with Fred’s sporran – nicknamed ‘Justin’ – adding: ‘But don’t worry guys, @fred_sirieix and I have a plan #JustinGinoandFred Coming soon…….GDx.’

An ITV spokesman told MailOnline: ‘Making a show that involves international travel during this period with the knock on effect of Covid-19 restrictions has been challenging, but Gordon, Gino and Fred has not been cancelled.’

The first series of the show premiered in 2018 and saw the trio explore local culture and cuisine in Italy, France and Scotland.

A Christmas special in 2019 entitled ‘Christmas Road Trip: Three Unwise Men’ saw the group visit Morocco.

The 2021 series followed the trio as they explored Greece.

The show has proven to be a critical and commercial success, and was nominated for a TV BAFTA in 2019.

Gordon is already a huge star in the United States, having worked with Fox for 16 years on shows including Hell’s Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares.
